Since the only similar thread that I could find covered Guitars/ Basses etc. and a long dead, and dead short, thread... thought I'd give it a go.

I'd like to keep this thread strictly to recording and producing setups (DJ'ing too though!).

Please don't quote photos. Post your setup photos and give a brief description.

I'll get the ball rolling as I just got my new monitors (fantastic btw!) and am dying to show off!!!

P.S. Feel free to tell us a little about your main DAW/ plugins... not a thesis of each VST and it's presets!

    My setup is:
    Toshiba Laptop - Dual Core 2.4ghz - 4GB ram - 2x 250GB Hard disks - 500GB Lacie D2 Quadra 7200rpm via firewire

Focusrite Saffire Pro40 - Great interface. Really well thought out.

KRK VXT6 Monitors - Love them. Great for mixing. Make things sound nice to an extent but once you hit the sweet spot you know it will sound sweet on other systems. Taking any subjective colouring out of it they do reveal a lot about what you are listening to.

Wee little Tascam speakers which are quite decent I have to say! Great for the A/B test.

M-Audio Oxygen 49 Midi controller - Simple cheap keyboard.

3x Sennheiser e604 -Very handy for toms. Sound grand. I dont have the best drums to test though

1x Shure SM57 - You know the deal here.
    1x Shure beta 52 - Lovely.
1x sE Electronics SE1a stereo matched pair - Now I do have great cymbals if I do say so myself and these are very very good for the money. Really great to have at the ready for me.

3x Behringer 1300 vocal mics things. Surprisingly good! 3 for 30 quid!!
6x Superlux (I think) neodymium dymanic mics. 50 quid or less for the set off thomann. Great for rehearsals.

1x Behringer PMH1000 (or is it PMP ) power mixer
    2x t.Box 15" full range speakers
    1x t.Box 12" Active Monitor
    All three are grand things.

Behringer MX3242 mixer. In-line 32 channel mixer (16 and 16). Great spec for 200 quid used! Aux 2 is a little temperamental but I dont mind that. One of my best purchases considering the price.

sE 2200a - Great mic if a little too much in the high mids upwards. I find it harsh sometimes. For a general all purposer where I cant guarantee the quality of the singer I may like something warmer. I have a lot to learn about microphones though

    Behringer ADA8000
    - Again, for 100 quid, one of the better purchases. Really solid and I have to say clean sounding!

Behringer HAsomething or other headphone amp - Again, 80 new and it does the job I want it to very well.

    Found some pics.

That was the wee rehearsal and recording studio I had last Summer. Hopefully reopen it at some point.

    EDIT:
Oh the second one was before I unleashed the wrath that is BBKs studio etiquette on the band, and before the KRKs moved in and any of the "acoustic decoration" :p

Thanks for the offer DamagedTrax, but I got me one of those.

Prob went off topic with that pic but that location is worth more to me than any gear in a rack. It's the first studio location i've worked in that I don't hear cars, trucks, cats or dogs in my mixes..........

My work in progress, 'Genius Move Studio'

Notice similar view to Sonas ;)

The mural is on a tuned membrane absorber centered around 47hz while the 2 side ones are full range there are another 2 around the 62hz point.

Chris from Munro acoustics designed it for me.

i've added a novation launchpad, and a cheap thomann bass
and lots of cheap percussion bits so i didnt have to pay shipping.

    and a samba whistle!

  • Registered Users Posts: 292 ✭✭shayleon

Looking good, but where is that samba whistle..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 282 ✭✭Quiggers

hidden inside a gimpish looking guero, the bargain bin at thomann is a wondrous thing.

Nose Flute isn't worth the money though, wasted €1.50, almost 2 mars bars
