I Made a phone call yesterday morning to big mickey about a new mattress for my son, I received a photo via e-mail within a couple of hours, I was happy enough with the price and decided to go ahead with the order, it was delivered today............. A little over 24 hours Later!!!!!, You wont get service like that from any of the bigger suppliers, and I also received a phone call after delivery to make sure everything was OK!, definitely will deal with big mickey in the future. highly recommended!

Mick sells sofas, books shelves, dining tables and chairs. Just tell him what you are looking for and he'll tell you if he can get it.

Has anyone purchased sofas from the main warehouse? Big selection, good quality?

Just wondering if its worth the trip at the weekend?

I was down a few months ago. I would say he didn't a huge selection, but then he gets in stock a various times. I think it depends on your criteria too. For my lounge I would be quite fussy - have certain colour and style in mind, but you may be more flexible. Send him a message tell him what you are looking for - he'll send you pictures - that'll save you a drive on spec. I am after a sofabed for a study, he told me yesterday that he had some new ones just in and he'll send me some pictures - I'm hopeful that he may have something that suits.

    Thanks Mick,
    For a great deal on the following;
Superking bed and mira matress and stuart Jones Leather headboard and bedroom chair, and all the bed linen.

Folks well worth a trip to Longford:)

In follow up to my last post, I am absolutely deeelighted with my new bed. I got a solid oak super king bed (6ft wide), with a 12" Silent Night Miracoil mattress for 900 euro, delivered for free and they even took away my old bed, bloody brilliant deal. The only bed that's ever come close was when we got upgraded to a suite in the G hotel last year on a weekend away :D.
It's pure luxury, can't believe it's at home in my house.
I know there's a lot of people querying the legitimacy of these deals but anyone is welcome to pm me or even, feck it, come and see the bed!
I have a lot of furniture to buy as we are building a house at the moment, and longford will be my first stop.

Hi all, just want to add my two cents about big mickey - i have been on boards for many years but my account was deactivated also, having said that i am more of a lurker than a poster :D.

Me and my oh have been loosely discussing the idea of getting a new mattress for the last while, as we had bought a mattress topper and thought it was great but this was only a short term solution. So on friday was in here having a look around and saw this thread, mentioned it to the oh on sat morning about big mickey and we decided to take the trip from lucan.

We got there and nothing was a problem for mick, he showed us many different mattresses, and let us wander around and have a think about things. In the end we came out with a harrison pocket sprung mattress and a goose feather duvet for next to nothing. We left the shop at around 3 / 3.30pm, got a call at 10 past 6 that evening and he arrived at 7.20, brought the mattress up the stairs, wanted to give him a cup of tea but we had to rush off unfortunately. Such a great man and a pleasure to deal with. Went shopping yesterday for my bed to dress it up! I actually could not sleep last night with the excitement of just being in the bed! I just cant believe my luck, im just sorry that i dont have a week off to spend in my bed. aaaaaaaaah!

will deffo be back to him in the future!

I dont even need to change my bed but now i want to!!

What an amazing thread. I know there's too many well established or older accounts on here for it to be completly unfounded praise for the man. Have to say though, im skeptical by nature.

Maybe in the Winter i'll drop down to see what all the fuss is about.

What does he charge for delivery (roughly).?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 199 ✭✭The Gride

I got free delivery of my mattress from Big Mickey. I think if they are already going your way, its free. There may be a charge if they have to go specially to you but if you are not in a hurry I think its free.

I am in need of a new super king mattress. I cant make it out to Longford so could anyone recommend a firm, pocket sprung, with no topper so I can flip the mattress?

I have been talking to Mick but he is reluctant to sell me a mattress without trying it out first, which is fairplay! But the wife just gave birth to twins so there is no way I can make it out at the moment and we need a new firm mattress to help her recovery!!!

Any help appreciated, would have a budget of €500 but can go a bit higher for the best mattress.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a company on the Northside who supply decent/high end mattresses at decent prices???

    Thanks,

    Branners

Having followed this thread for a while and recently purchased a new house i decided to take a trip down to Longford on Saturday.

Mick was very busy but told us to have a good look around and he would be free shortly.I had intended on buying two double beds but ended up buying 2 doubles and one kingsize and 3 amazing mattresses.

Mick was with us shortly and gave us his full attention,,showing us all types of mattresses and extra bedframes he could get for us.

This man loves his mattresses and is passionate about what he sells.

He even jumped on covered mattress and the quality was shockingly good.

I bought 2 double mattresses of good quality and an amazing 1000 pocketsprung ortho mattress .

Today he had his 2 men come and put the beds together and as i had access to the house just for an hour today they came out of there way to do it at a certain time.

The service was second to none and he rang back this evening to see was i happy.

This was in the stark contrast to the walk around cost plus sofa on sunday where the sales people seemed more interested in there americanos they were drinking than there customer or product.

If your not into Shiny showrooms and you want high quality mattresses at low prices take a trip down to bigmickeys.

Thanks again mickey and il be back for a 4th bed in the near future.

You can go to your local shops and then when you get a bed you like call Mick and price that one with him..You dont have to try the mattress in his shop!!

Stand aside Chuck Norris there is a new hero in town, Mick!

Mick really could not have done more to help us and give us a great deal on what looks like a superb mattress!

Thanks again Mick and next time I will definitely be making the trip to Longford!

Hi Branners - I got a double of the Rest Assured 1000 Pocket Ortho and it's heaven! Maybe he does that in King Size too. Mick was hesitant about bringing me a bed when I hadn't tried it first, but I'm tellin' ya anyone tries to take this bed off me would be in serious trouble! It's firm but soft - you don't sink into it, but feel like you're floating on it. Best of luck with your search.

    Hi All

I am a huge fan of this co and have recommended them on many an occasion. I got my daughter a set of Bunk Beds from them and I really couldn't believe the quality of what I got for my money.

Im quite thrifty so I spent A LOT of time trawling the net and kids stores for different types of beds etc and I have to say I have not come across a sturdier bed anywhere - it doesn't creak or shake and all her friends parents were bowled over when they saw it. I got to pick the colour what features I wanted and they made it clear I could choose any features I wanted. Oh and they also delivered & assembled the bed for me.

Think its only right to pass the word on when you rec good service which is a rarity in these days! Oh and their IRISH!!!:D:D

Drove up yesterday from kk and was delighted i made the journy, got a sofa bed and a mattress. Herself fell in love with a memory foam mattress, he didnt have the size we wanted but was straight on the phone and ordered it in. Nice sofa bed too, half the price i would have paid down here.

Be careful about slandering people too. If you even bothered to go to his store, you'd find out that he makes no claim to be an "official stockist" of anything. One of his previous ads on donedeal also mentioned "transport marked" mattresses. The product is new, but might just have gotten marked during shipping. That's why they are cheap.

As for time in portlaoise. I'll bet you wouldn't say that to someone's face.

    Very well said sir.

    Hi,

I'm a regular poster in the Poker Forum.

I made the trip from Dublin to Longford in search of a good bed. The drive took an hour and a half from Red Cow Roundabout. I was welcomed in by Mickey and his staff and handed a much wanted mug of tea. A lovely bunch of people and top quality stuff for really good prices.

Mickey was very honest with me and pointed out any thing that may have been relevant to me such as a blemish or something. He was friendly and efficient.

I bought a top end bed and mattress, Duvet & Cover, Pillows & Pillow Cases.

I'm absolutely delighted with it all and I feel that I got a great bargain.

One thing to note if you are coming in to Longford from the Dublin Road...
I recieved directions from a friend who told me to continue into Longford town and dirve straight down through the town and keep going out the far side. I followed this and yes, it did get me there but trafic was heavy and slow moving through the town.

It is not nessessary to drive through the town...
Just before Longford you come to a roundabout with a sign pointing left saying "Longford 2Km". Don't turn left here! this will bring you into the town. You can by-pass the town by going straight through the roundabout following the sign to "Sligo". Then when you come to a large roundabout with a garage and a McDonalds turn left. The shop is about a mile out that road on your right.

    Hi,

Have been in the market for a new king mattress this past 3 months.
Rang bigmickey 2 weeks ago & he emailed me a few pics.

Finally drove down sat morning, picked out a king size mattress, wasnt fussy about the base.

Bought a memory foam mattress €499 & base for €100.
Bed was delivered sat evening!! & he even took away old mattress & base.

Bed is fantastic, love it,had an excellent sleep.

I had looked around in a few shops/online before purchasing & this worked out at great value.

Bigmickey couldnt have been more helpful.
Great customer service & terrific value.

    BR
    Happy customer :)

I don't normally post much, but I tend to read a lot on boards, which is where I first came across the name Big Mick.

Last week I saw that he had a genuine Laz-y-Boy suite in stock (2 x reclining 3-seaters) at a price of €1,500.

Since a single Laz-y-Boy reclining chair retails at about €800, this was definitely worth a look. I paid a deposit on the spot, it was delivered today (free) and I am now sitting in luxury.

Thanks to Boards for this thread, and to Mick for the deal....incredible value for pristine, new, quality furniture by one of the best brands around. I will certainly be watching Mick's for any other furniture I need.

Went down to Micks last tuesday for a mattress. I had a €300 budget and wasnt expecting too much. Bought a 'rest assured 1000 pocket sprung mattress for €300 (bargain!!). Mick said he could drop it back to Kildare that evening!!(no charge!). Very happy with the deal.

Got home and Mick called me to say the mattress I bought had some damage on the under side that neither of us had spotted. He explained that he would not sell it to me in that condition and I could have a full refund or I could have a 'rest assured 1400 pocket sprung' for no extra cost! The 1400 is the next level up and costs over €1000 in the shops! I said I'd take it!!
Was delivered first thing the next morning. I am extreamly happy with the deal I got, the mattress is far superier than any I have ever slept on before. I would higly reccommend dealing with Mick before any high street store.
Can you imagine if the same thing happened with a mattress bought from the high street?! It would have been delivered damaged, you would have to chase them to come out and pick it up and then probably have to wait 2 weeks for a replacment!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 119 ✭✭mimmi

Mick delivered my Harrison sprung bed base which I asked him to get me a few months ago to go with the Harrison mattress I bought. I showed him a picture of the colour I wanted and he said 'leave it with me' - as usual he came up trumps !

    Another happy customer :)

Half price beds and mattresses in Argos til 14th June

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 62 ✭✭chelbi

Hi Karen, I checked out Argos too but I got 2 Rest Assured mattresses of Big Mickey's in Longford. The same as the mattress in Argos, Big Mickey was exactly half the price of Argos sale price. In other words, he was quarter the price of the recommended price. No waiting around either like argos. He had them in stock. Big Mickey delivered the same day. Very happy customer here :):):)

Hi took a spin down to Micks yesterday for two matresses. Got a great deal on two rest assured at less than half the price in Argos. Great guy to deal with and even supplied tea/coffee and biscuits. Matresses were delivered today and took the old one away. Will be back down when we get around to changing the sittingroom suite.

Regarding the directions above. DO NOT TURN LEFT AT MC DONALDS.
This will bring you into the town ..... learned the hard way. When you come to the roundabout at Mc Donalds just continue on through it and out the main road. You will see Micks on the right hand side about a mile out.

Once again a top guy to deal with and cannot praise his customer service enough.

Mick delivered a kingsize mattress and a double mattress to me yesterday. Like the other womans story the 1000 sprung double had damage so he replaced it with a 1400 before he delivered. Best service I've had from the retailing trade for a very long time would highly recommend doing business with Mick (stylish Interiors).

Was looking for a new bed and a few matresses so after reading this thread decided to give Mickey a visit.
Could not be happier. Spent an hour there and got all we wanted and more. The quality of stock is unbelievable, and the prices even more so.
No hard sell. Mickey is sound as a bell. Will be recommending him to everyone and anyone - great to see a well run business with genuine value for money..

Considering the weight of opinion in favour of Big Mickey and his service, I feel I must be almost alone in my disappointment. I've tried on 4 occasions to get info from him about mattresses. I've been promised a phone call once and an email twice and all have failed to materialise. I know I'm not trying to spent a fortune but still its disappointing, especially seeing how people have been getting calls weeks later to see if they're happy with their purchases. I'm a 6 hour round trip and E70 worth of petrol away from him, so am willing to buy sight unseen if I can just know what I'm buying in advance.

Maybe I spoke too soon - got texts from Mick this morning, apologising for the delay in coming back to me. Followed up with a call and an e-mail, came up with an offer that I'm really tempted by - sounds like a couple of really good mattresses. Hmmm, decisions, decisions...
