Now that 2pm has come and gone.

Best of luck to all candidates, regardless of party or position.

For anyone to put them selves out to the electorate and have their face's plastered all over the area they live is not easy. I couldn't do it.

GET OUT AND VOTE - NO MATTER WHO OR WHAT YOU FOLLOW, JUST VOTE :)

Does this moratorium mean that they can't be standing outside the polling stations tomorrow?

Chucknorris is a girl, the best twist in the election campaign so far, up there with the ending of The Sixth Sense :)

Looking forward to all the tallys coming in over the weekend, i'd say twitter is going to explode!

Can someone objectively tell me what Dennison is like? How right wing is he? Has he expressed any controversial comments etc...

Anything on him would be great (non FGers respond please).

I couldn't tell you anything about FG or it's candidates because not a one came a knocking on my door. We had FF twice, Socialists, Labor and SF, but nobody or nothing from FG. That's not a great way to win votes.

I tihnk the letter Varadkar sent in the Insight (a leaflet that goes to council estates in D15) will do him no favors.

It's a hand written letter asking people in council estates effectively to vote Dennison 1 and Varadkar 2 -

That will P off a lot of people, no one likes to be told what to do.

Interesting to see how it impacts varadkar, clearly he is confident of topping the poll from the clonsilla/castleknock/roselawn areas.

I know a number of people who have decided to follow that instruction including myself. It is the best hope of keeping FF out of a seat which would be a good result for the country given the way they have destroyed it.

It may mean that Varadkar does not top the poll but that FG take two seats.

got an email from him yesterday after i asked him a few questions, in fairness to him he is the only td from DW that has responded to any of my emails. unfortunately not going to vote for FG as they are a 'christian party' :( . Really still not sure how to vote in this  will be a last minute decision...

Do you really thing the developers give a **** about who is voted in or out? None of the parties likely to be in power have mentioned holding the people responsible for the debt to account. Or making the bankers pay back their bonuses. Voting out FF sends a message that we're mad at FF now that it's all come crashing down, but were quite happy to leave them in power while we were all living the high life, even though all this development and bank stuff has been going on since at least 2003.

and lets not forget the opposition parties who massively failed at their responsibilities - they called for more spending the whole way through the good times and never brought up any of the issues they do today. Opposition doesnt just mean taking the opposite view point. All our politicians failed us and i dont believe any of FG,L,FF,GP deserve our vote...

As opposed to virtually every other parties posters with the slogan "Vote #1" Can't see how it's going to piss people off bar a minority which probably weren't going to vote for them anyway.

By law no political activity/gathering/canvassing/posters can be in place on the grounds or within 50m of the entrance to the grounds from half an hour before polling starts to half an hour after it finished.

Pity Joan Burton, Patrick Nulty, Joe Higgins and David McGuinness seem to blatantly disregard that law. Their posters all in place as I cast my vote

It wasn't going to change your mind now was it - in fact it probably reinforced your view :pac:

Quite probably! The frustrating thing is that this happens EVERY election/referendum and the presiding officer/gardai do nothing about it. I'm sure they see me and think "it's that one moaning about the posters again"!

Their all at it. In fact FG were up a day before the government was dissolved.

I used to love going to the polling station with my parents years ago when I was a young one. Do you remember all the canvassing going on and being handed a long strip of stickers? They were great!

I seen people putting up special Nulty ones outside a polling station last night. Seen a man putting up Lenihans posters lastnight too although that wasn't outside a polling station. Surprised Lenihan was still putting up posters.

According to Fingal Co. Co. once they were not up more than 30 days before polling day they don't consider them to be illegal if erected before the election is called.

The in that case why didn't ANY party put them up a week in advance?

PS: The new Facebook counter on the elections is on 61,000 votes. Impressive.
