    Hi guys,
Firstly wondering about aer lingus seating? I thought only Ryanair charged for seat selections but now see aer lingus do too? What are the chances of us getting seated together at check in?

Depends on how busy the flight is. Generally when i fly with Aer Lingus i won't purchase a seat and won't check in until i get to Dublin airport which i usually always find i get an Emergency exit row

Our Kids are older now so we don't pay for Seats. Aer Lingus Check-In opens 30 hours ahead (European Flights) so I usually set an alarm on my phone and check-in then. Never had a problem.

Aer Lingus will automatically group people on the same ticket together unless it is impossible to do so

Advice above is the way to go, check in at 30 hours and pick for free

Yet Ryanair get all the flack for it.....a Liveline field day once.

Love the ‘have to pay to sit together’ option. Peace and quiet for the whole flight. It’s not rude to ignore a chatter beside you if you’re not related to them!

Which magazine the UK did some research on airlines randomly allocating seats. Generally they found airlines seat people in the same booking close or beside each other. The exception were Ryanair, they allocate people as far away as possible. They reckoned it was a deliberate policy, as with the sample size more people randomly allocated should have been seated beside each other than were.
Aer Lingus use it to generate additional income but seem to seat people together
    anyway.

    I didn't pay for seats on a 2 recent Ryanair flights for 2 adults, 3 children (14,12,9).
1 adult+ the 9 and 12 yr old were seated togther as we had to pay for it. In seats 29ABC.
On the return leg the 14 year old was seated in row 1. Out she was seated in row 16.

But isn't row 1 one of the rows that people pay extra for, as it has better legroom?

It won’t let me check in and select a seat for tomorrow. Then again I’m booked with BA and it’s a code share.

We (2 adults and 3 children, then 13,11,8) booked Aer Lingus Venice-Dublin flight via BA less than 12 hours before the flight as the EI allocation had sold out. We couldn't check in online, though the flight was full we were seated together.

Not worried about not getting on, just looking for an emergency aisle seat.

    Hi ,

When travelling with Aerlingus is a child under 11 accompanied by an adult allocated a seat beside the adult?

We have two kids 3 and 7 travelling to Paris in March just wondering when I book seats will I just have to pay for the two adults and then the kids seats will be available to book free.

    Children aged 2-11 years

    Children aged 2-11 years

Children in this age group must travel in their own seat.

If an infant is over two years of age for any part of the journey, a seat must be bought for them. Alternatively, you can make two separate bookings – one for the outbound and one for the return flight.

    or - Contact Aer Lingus

Think we paid for our kids seat but at a lower price. There is some kind of deal.

I'm sure OP knows how to contact AL, their responses are notoriously slow hence why they are probably asking here. No need for the hostility, the whole point of the forum is for asking questions :rolleyes:

OP I believe you have to pay but its a lesser amount than you would be charged for an adult.

With aerlingus I normally wait till the 30 hours before the flight and check us in for free. We've always been seated together.

But if you want to check the cost just sign into your account and go ahead as if you're checking in and you can check the prices (you may need to enter the passport details)

We travelled to Spain with Aer lingus last october. Have a 2 year old and a 10 month old. Was not able to choose seats online as we had an infant with us.

They had me on one row and my wife and the 2 kids on another row. was a pain in the A$$ tbh.
