In honour of the removal of the '_' from the end of my username (thanks admins!) I thought I'd start a thread for relatively obscure bands. These would be bands that I've come across but have yet to find anyone else who has heard of them.

First up is rock band Фактично Самi (Faktychno Sami) from Ukraine.

Led by singer and writer Irena Karpa, the best way I can sum up their music is with the word "odd"

There are a few other videos of theirs on Youtube, use both the Latin and Cyrillic versions of their name if you're searching as you'll get different results.

Rival Sons better watch they don't get sued! Thats a straight rip off of a 90s era band band who's name escapes me but others will know, plus The Groundhogs thrown in as well.

If you read the thread title it says bands you may not have heard of, not bands you haven't heard of. The idea being to give exposure to bands that are not that well known.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll find something to add, you're not normally stuck for something to post .

Anybody ever heard of Guano Apes? Massive in Germany but fcuk all anywhere else, went to Manchester to see them some years ago, about 60 people in the audience!!

They split up about 6 yrs ago but have just reformed

I love Guano Apes. I started a thread about their reunion at the time. They are a brilliant band but strangely unknown outside of Germany and Eastern Europe.

More old school prog, I reckon if these guys came out in the 70's they could have been huge, unfortunately the early 90's wasn't a great time for prog rock.

Think Pink Floyd meets Zeppelin, with an odd Indian style influence.

Unfortunatly the guitarist/vocalist killed himself in '95 , a year after the band broke up. They released 3 albums, which didn't get much recognition until after the death of of Walli.

Here is Гевал (Geval) from Moscow in Russia. They remind me a lot of Rammstein so if you like Rammstein you should like these guys too. Their homepage is here but it's in Russian only as far as I can see.

There is a lot of Ministry circa Psalms in their sound as well. Quite like what I am hearing so will defo have to check them out. Cheers for putting them up.

Heh, I haven't listened to Ministry in years. I loved that song Just One Fix. Anyway, there's an album by the aforementioned Geval free to download here. Just click the links labelled "cкачать" beside each track.

Did anyone ever see or hear a band called tooth from Limerick, prob 10 years ago now. think one of them is in giveamanakick now.

Seriously good heavy live band, used to have some of their demo's but lost them between house moves unfortuneatly,

Yep I remember them, and you are spot on with your Giveamanakick comment. As far as I know though, Giveamanakick are finished as a band at this stage as Stephen is doing other stuff now.
