I was wondering where I could get a fire grate, its about 17" at the front tapering to the back - ideally straight fronted. Tried B&Q, Homebase and Woodies so far.
    Thanks

    You could get one made.
    When do you need one?

Go to a good Hardware/Builders Merchant. Where are you?

I'm not too far from the city, but able to travel to wherever really.
I can't afford to spend too much, the grate we have has burnt through at the back, so its doing its job for now but its not going to last for too much longer really

The Market on a Saturday morning!!

The local Co-op for me has never had the correct grate
nor any other store which is pretty feckin amazing since you would think a standard house in an estate would have a standard fireplace that would let shops/stores sell standard grates.

With the ****e smokless coal I've gone through a grate every year or two over the last decade. I've found the Market entrance nearest the watergate flats has always got a bloke who sells grates for 15-20 Euro's that fit my fireplace finest. 15-16-17 inch at the front with either a wedge or bevel at the front and tapering in at the back. (and 3 legs so it stands on its own) some of the grates in the stores are not free standing for some reason without legs at the end of them.

The Market ftw! I picked up mine there. Normally there's a smell of campfire off the tinkers, but in this case... :p

Be sure and grab some crêpes for breakfast! Mmmm!!! Crêpes!

Careful using the dreaded "T" word here on the Limerick boards
I had one of our moderators here threaten to ban me before
simply for using that particular word in a post.

well managed to get into town this morning, found your man, and bought my grate.. all well and good - until we got it home and found that his measurements and ours didn't quite agree! So grate is about 3/4" too big at the front. Oh well back to square one...
btw he charged me 25 for it.
