    Hi Guys,

I was just wondering do many of you think that earning a "Google AdWords" qualification is a good addition to my CV. I am finishing up a marketing degree soon & would like to get into the Digital Marketing area of Marketing.

I feel that adding this to my CV shows that I am ambitious & took initiative to try and this to my qualifications.

Also is the exam hard? I'm trying to study for it, but gonna wait till after my college exams to take it?

Lastly, Is it just the one exam you need to be qualified in "Google AdWords"

    Thanks,

    SF

    Yes, better than nothing.

Frankly I had used google adwords for almost one year to advertise my e-commercial website to bring in potential customer. At first time, It didn't work & It costed money a lot. After about a month I made a successful order. I was very happy at that moment. Then I keep watch my adwords, and do something i should do, for example, change budget, choose the websites showed my AD.
At that time I think it was really working well.

To me, I haven't study anything about marketing & IT. But I still can open my online shop with open source application; and advertise it on google; optimize my business. This just works for small company such like my shop site, not for big company!

    Good luck!

The Google Qualifications are loved by the industry and they benefit the company as you can add to their status "Google Qualified Company" etc. So if for example you wanted to try get a job in an online marketing agency like Cybercom or something like that then you are instantly more attractive to them assuming you want to specialise in the search side of things and not media buying/display. Then again, you're more valuable if you have a broader knowledge of all things and then specialise in an area.

To be a Google Professional etc, you need the fundamental search and one of the advanced ones. Starting with the search fundamental exam is what i'd recommend and start looking for jobs then when you have one, study for the advanced search/reporting one etc...

They're not hard if you use the tools on a daily basis - otherwise it's like everything else and will require a learning curve but you could go from 0 knowledge to passing the fundamental exam in about 10 days if you wanted to do it.

Could anyone tell me how much the most basic Google adwords course costs?

Would it be possible for someone to put a link here of the course details.

    Thanks.

This isn't a 'course' as such, it's in relation to 'certification' (of pretty much zero value to anyone not operating in the IM field and simply using adwords for their own advertising) showing that a certain level of competency has been obtained on the information.

You can use the adwords learning center to pick up the information that would be relevant to the certification free of charge. It's a self paced system, you can ignore elements that aren't relevant to you/your business and you can refer back to it any time.

Well worth going through all the material there if you use adwords for advertising, but I'd suggest that if you're not gaining a benefit (e.g. like superfrank would) from the actual certification then the cost is a waste.

If you prefer a more 'structured' training course and don't mind the fees, the digital marketing institute hold various different courses (ranging from individual lectures to postgraduate qualifications). You'll also find a large number of individuals who'll provide various options for hands on training (many of who post on boards), but do be sure to take care when choosing (it's an industry with very low entry level costs, so always plenty of cowboys and snake oil around).
