Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello,

I have a query. My spouse MAY have found a job. I know that there is already a calculator here with a simulation means test of how much job seeker's allowance someone may be entitled to if their partner is working but my question is what is deemed reckonable income. I know that it should be GROSS PAY minus PRSI and not tax, but can you deduct the Universal Social Charge?

    Many thanks!

Thank for that however it still doesn't answer my question.

My question is quite specific - For the means test Is it GROSS PAY minus PRSI or is it GROSS PAY minus PRSI and USC?

    The website states:

"How your income from employment or self employment is assessed depends on the payment you are getting. When assessing your income from employment the following are always deducted from your gross earnings:

    PRSI
    Union dues
Superannuation or contribution to a pension fund"

But I have seen somewhere that the pension levy is also deducted so I am assuming that the USC is deducted as it is the Health Levy and Pension Levy rolled into one.

    Thanks again
