Sick of looking at a laptop... I need a PC!

    My Macbook Pro is on it's last legs. I need a new pc with a 22-24 inch monitor. I want to be able to play the likes of Starcraft 2/COD at more or less the highest settings. Nothing too nuts though. (I'm used to a laptop so anything would be an improvement!) Was thinking 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive, would need a dvd burner (nothing above basic) one of the mid-range Intel cpus and a motherboard that won't fry on me. I have keyboard + mouse.

    My budget's probably 600 but could push 800 if you convince me. Any suggestions??

    You should definately look at the Budget gaming sticky at the top of the forum for some ideas in you price range (Thread usually contains builds < 500 without a monitor.)

    I put up this build there a few weeks ago that came to 420 + 30 shipping, throw in a 120-150 monitor budget and that is the 600 pretty well spent. It would be able to play 95%+ of current games on absolute maximum settings at 1920 X 1080, bar a select few like Crysis, Stalker: COP and Metro 2033 for example where some detail compromise would be required.


    Maxing COD and Starcraft 2 would be pose absolutely no problems to this build at all though.
