Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi everyone

I am considering buying a bowens Gemini 200 Headand beauty dish.
I would like to use them on location where I will not have power sockets.

Does anyone a cheaper way to power suchs lights without buying a travel battery pack. There so expensive?! Or does anyone know of a cheap battery pack

Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks alot

    Dylan

you can also run in inverter quite happily off a car battery or one of those jump starter briefcase things. I bought mine in tkmaxx for 35e a while back. it has a 20Ah battery in it and recently I ran my inverter off it for 5 hours straight with no problem. just clipped the jump leads on to the metal contacts of the cigarette lighter plug on the inverter.

lidl do both inverters and 12v "power blocks" (battery with a handle and leads) periodically. about 20 quid each iirc

in case you don't want to have a car running all through your shoot.

    edit---

istr dealextreme.com recently got in some new inverters i think. up to about 400w. theyll beat maplins/halfords by a county mile on price but shipping will likely take a month

You can always use standard computer UPS once you get the correct leads. And when you are not shooting, you can use it for your HW at home.

Deal Extreme have good prices but the quality of their stuff is often pretty bad and if you have a problem then they are very difficult to deal with.

Be Careful with inverters and generators, as most don't produce "Clean" power and will not power some devices properly (or at all). The Innovatronix Explorer SE is designed for Studio lights - but make sure to check the chart to see if your lights are compatible.

I was thinking this myself alot recently, and all I could come up with was a petrol generator :P
