Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Camera stores in Dublin?

    Hi,
I'll be in Dubiln in March and want to call into a bricks n motar store. I'm wondering which stores have the best staff for advice, happy to talk to me for a while, let me handle equiptment.

I'm looking for a few bits:
we have a compact at home but I want one to keep on me (in car, about town etc.) for when I don't have my dSLR with me.
Do any stores stock the Samsung EX1/TL500 (and Song S95, Panasonic LX5) so I can compare them? (I'm still debating whether to go for one of above or an 'all-round' compact with 'bells and whistles (long zoom, panaromaic sweep etc)
Any store with a range of lenses for Pentax cameras?
Stock a range of bags, specifically Slingshot Pro range or similar(I like the idea of easy access but not having the bag hanging by my side.)

    Cheers,
    Pa.

My advice is that you visit as many of the camera shops as time will allow. Go in with an open mind and I am sure you will get good service in them all.
Berminghams, Conns,Gunns, Camera Centre and Halls are definitely worth a visit

if its a compact go for a bridge camera .... so you have a compact with the ability to adjust settings of a DSLR so the more you learn about photography/exposure the more you can get out of the bridge camera.

Thanks but I had a Panasonic FZ28 (loved it), sold it to buy my dSLR. I want something that'll fit in my pocket (even if it's the 'bulky' LX5 or similar).

+ 1 for Hall cameras in Talbot Street. I have found them very helpful and nice to deal with.

gunns followed by the camera exchange in that order are your best bets.
i've had negative experiences in berminghams, halls, and the camera centre.

Anyone know which shop is best for trade in value? I have a mint lens I want to upgrade, just wondering which shop gives the most generous trade value. Do they take condition of the lens into consideration? Or same offer to all no matter?
