Well done! Goes to show what a ripoff original inks are. If you have not used the printer yet, install compatible inks in the initial installation. The software might complain, but continue on regardless. After that the printer should accept any cartridge.

Is this to go with any printer? As I have an epson and it sometimes is funny with spurious inks - would it be worthwhile buying a new one and sticking in non epson inks to get it working?

Yes, especially with Epsons. I have bought the SX215 and SX 415 over the past 6 months. Got multipacks of compatible ink from www.amazon.co.uk for £10.99. www.justmedia.ie also have very good value in compatible Epson ink.The Epson software grumbles during initial installation of the ink but carry on regardless and the printer will accept the compatible ink. You will save an absolute fortune in ink.Best of luck.

was the ink included in the price?

How does this compare performance-wise and consumption-wise with the HP Deskjet F4580? My local Tesco are selling those off for €49.99 incl. two HP 300 cartridges... but this takes four individual HP 564 cartridges, which should represent better value/less waste than the tri-colours (?)

I bought this a few weeks back. the offer is on since xmas. its a savage printer.

Inks can be got online alot cheaper than in store.

Its showing up on my network as a B110a on the box its HP Wireless Printer eAIO

No usb cable included ( not needed since it can work over ur network)

it updates over the internet from the small menu screen on it.

check the volume (ml) in each cartridge and compare. divide the price by this and you get the €/ml price.

You can get cartridges online that have double the ml of a high useage cartridge for 20 euro. If i remember correctly its 28 ml compared to something like 15 ml for the high usage HP.

Unfortunatley not, I guess he could go buy one in Harvey Norman and then bring that one back to the other shop with the €75 receipt! (joking btw!)

He bought it because it was €60 to buy ink for our lexmark printer and this looked nice for €75, it's on the company expenses as a printer (or ink) was required, so not too big a deal.

Just don't buy this in PC world!

By the way, very nice and very fast printer, haven't used the other functions yet.

Bought this last week from amazon and just seen the compatible inks on inkjet.ie but they are "without chip". Will they work and do I have to trick the machine into using them?

what a pain in the arse having to pull of chips and glue them to the compatible cartridge! First off, that means you actually have to buy all original cartridges to begin with, and probably again when the chip gets knackered from pulling it on and off.

That place(inkmaestro) is well expensive too!
    Thanks for the effort tho:)

To be fair it's a completely different site and I did check the faq :p

Ink maestros prices are quite higher but then they do list the amount of ink in each where as inkjet doesn't. Also maestro seems to include some mysterious liquid to help remove the chip. Decisions decisions...

Well the printer does come with a set at the start so as long as you're careful it shouldn't be too big a deal.

    Individual cartridges are indeed better.
With a 3 in 1 cartridge you ll have to replace the entire thing when 1 colour is gone. You ll find that sometimes the other colours are not even haf done before yellow (i think that was the one most used) is gone.

    You sure?

edit: I see the OP mentions it came with inks, just doesn't say it on the HN website, it has inks listed as 'optional extras'

Outstanding value, thanks OP. brilliant that it works with iPad too!!!!
HN also doing Samsung Laser printers - Colour €119, B&W €129 incl a free toner valued at €78. I bought a B&W and the HP. Fantastic bargains.

    its in tesco for €43

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,244 ✭✭✭MrFrisp

Does anyone here use their own ink to refill the cartridges?

We use the HP F380 and buy the ink refills for it...Must say,,it saves Us a fortune.

Would this not work with the cartridges that come with the printer in question here?

    Just curious...

  • Registered Users Posts: 126 ✭✭dextero

I only got a glance at it as i was rushing, it was black, wireless, had a printer scanner and copier and came with ink cartridges - 301 I think one of them was

    Think this is it: http://direct.tesco.com/product/images/?R=206-0528

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 863 ✭✭✭iknorr

different printer. they have them also in pc world alongside the one mentioned by OP .

    Very similar though.

I was a bit confused about it when i saw them .

I think the main things that were different were the ppm, resolution and cartridges.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

They have them in Power City too. About three or four different ones.
One is €43, One is €49 Not sure of other prices..

Oh, Here they are - LINK

Although looking at that link, that's not all the ones i saw in store in Coolock today. There were other similar ones to the Main one in that link.

It does. Sitting in front of me as I type.

    Edit -

BTW I just ordered replacement cartridges from refreshcartridges.co.uk. They give you some bit of plastic that you stick the chips to and put under new cartridges so you only need to remove them once. Seems a bit handier. I got a 4 pack shipped to Ireland for 12.97 pounds plus 35p shipping.
    Seems pretty good!

Powercity have it in store at €89.95 or €79.95 online - they call it Model : HP PHOTOSMART WIFI CN245 (that's the same model as this B110)

I bought mine on friday in Harvey Norman, really delighted with it. Thanks OP!

I bought these on eBay a couple of days ago, came this morning. They are HP branded, and a decent price: http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260720580894

2 of the HP 364 XL Black High Capacity Ink Cartridges came to €32 delivered.

    No probs mate

    http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/compatible-valuepack-cartridges-with-chip-extenders-each-photosmart-printers-364xl-bkcmy-high-yield-without-chip-please-click-more-info-instructions-p-37259.html

This is the 364 inks. 1 of all 4. They come with a little piece of plastic you remove the chips from the original and stick them to. I did that today,it's a bit scary but they're not too tough to remove. Took me about 5-10 minutes to do all 4.
I put the original cartridges back in though as Im not out of ink just yet so I can't comment on the quality of the ink bet I will say the cartridges are see through and have plenty of ink in them.

They also have a youtube video on how to install them here:
