I think someone mentioned earlier that we haven't had much luck, I think that Liverpool result was very lucky for us.

Well this really is a good day. Going to enjoy it no matter what the fcuk happens. At one stage today, fourth place was looking very distant. Now its back to a three way battle for third and fourth. Nothing is decided but tonight is a night for enjoyment and booze imo. I drink to Spurs and the footballing gods.

    Well said,

A part of me thinks it's quite poetic if we went on a run now and finished 3rd/4th. City game last year seemed to knock us and really kill our season. Hopefully the opposite will happen now.

Got GOT to beat Wigan next week.

Defoe did the same to Masherano a few years back. Is he a scumbag too?

defoe doesn't have a history like Suarez does. He is bringing the reputation of Liverpool FC down. No one player is bigger than the club

    Except for maybe G Bale;)

Sure Defoe was only having the craic with Javier..
I woldnt really call it a real bite compared to Suarez.

dont even think Defoe even left a mark or bruise on Javier iirc:D

Still shouldnt have done it either way.

JD has matured a immensely since then:cool:

Great strike for him today for the winner the little Yiddo:)

I'm a pool fan and there's no defending a bit tbh.

However, the media will go overboard on this.

Anyway, Mr Suarez did Spurs a big favour today :)

A huge amount of credit has to go to AVB today for the changes with substitutions and tactics during the game - completely changed the flow of the game in our favour - he deserves a well earned drink this evening COYS

Thursday 25th April 20:05 Europa League - Semi-Final Basel vs Chelsea

Sunday 28th April 2013 15:00 Barclays Prem Chelsea vs Swansea

    Thursday 2nd May 2013 20:05 Europa League - Semi-Final Chelsea vs Basel

Sunday 5th May 2013 16:00 Barclays Prem Man Utd vs Chelsea

Wednesday 8th May 2013 19:45 Barclays Prem Chelsea vs Tottenham

Saturday 11th May 2013 12:45 Barclays Prem A Villa vs Chelsea

Sunday 19th May 2013 16:00 Barclays Prem Chelsea vs Everton

Those fixtures.... Must feel confident at this stage to be honest. Basel away 3 days later Swansea home. Basel Home the thursday after then Man Utd away 3 days later (I still feel confident even if the league is over for United). Then Spurs home midweek. Aston Villa away who may be still fighting for PL survival and Everton home last game of the season who will always be tough.

My hope is for 7 points from the remaining PL fixtures. Including a defeat to Spurs but thats ambitious. If Chelsea sit at 70 pts or below I think we could do it.

Our goal difference is a joke and I'd be reaming as much as United fans last season if we lose out because of it. We never really gave teams a right hiding this season apart from Villa.

If Chelsea manage to finish in the top 4 on the back of their form of late I'd be surprised. It'll be our own fault yet again for drifting away. It really is up to Spurs not to bottle it again. All of our games are very winnable if they treat each team just like Man City.

Nothing is decided... but we have given ourselves a fighting chance.

Having a look at the fixtures really doesn't tell us much other than Chelsea have a lot of games in a short space of time.

With some teams fighting for their lives and others with the holidays bags already packed I think we are in for a few shocks.

Don't be shocked if we lose out on GD and we are all screaming about the lack of firepower as always..and how it has cost us.

Win our home games, draw with Chelsea and win one of the other away games and we'll get top 4. Very manageable. Every game is a cup final from here on out. No more slip ups, they got a break, no excuses.

We have 3 away games left and i suspect we'll need 2 wins and a draw to guarantee top 4.

    Wigan v Tottenham

Once again Wigan are in the bottom 3 with 5 games to go, they alway escape by getting results in their last few games. 1 point

    Tottenham v Southampton

Southampton in holiday mode, confident of 3 points

    Chelsea v Tottenham

winner takes all, but will a draw be enough? 1 point

    Stoke City v Tottenham

Never easy place to go, spurs to drop 2 very costly points. 1 point

    Tottenham v Sunderland

Should be straightforward enough assuming Sunderland are safe. 3 points

    Total : 9points

70 points wont be enough this season me thinks

I think it will provided we either draw or win with Chelsea. If we do either of those and win our home games plus one other away game I'm confident we'll finish 3rd.
We have 3 away games left and i suspect we'll need 2 wins and a draw to guarantee top 4.
Again, I think 70 points will be enough for 4th. Whatever happens I don't think there will be more than 2 between the three clubs.

As someone alluded to before, goal difference may very well come into play, in which case it does, we're fucked.

I was reading the Arsenal thread on the soccer forum yesterday there are all sorts of combinations.

If both spurs and chelsea win all their remaining games but draw against each other and Arsenal get 12 from 15 points, they would still lose out on a top 4 finish.

Getting really nervous about the idea of losing out on goal difference. Thats the kinda thing that could only happen to spurs and thats what is so worrying.

Hoping Villa do Utd tonight so that Sir Alex will play a strong side vs Arsenal! Very optimistic, but also quite nervous about the rest of the season

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,746 ✭✭✭irishmover

I'm sure Arsenal fans will be feeling a little confident next week...

  • Registered Users Posts: 88 ✭✭pancho84

Even after winning the title United wont want to give Arsenal any favours or drop any points

after last season and the dodgy lasagne at west ham, we are bound to lose CL qualification on goal difference!
