    Some stats:
    * Tottenham
    * Andre Villas-Boas's Tottenham (62) are three points ahead of Harry Redknapp's Tottenham (59) at the same stage last season.

    * Their points haul against bottom-half sides (32) is the worst in the top seven of the PL.

    * Gareth Bale has scored more goals away from home (12) than either Stoke or West Ham this season.

    Some stats:

Points totals are up for everyone though, even Chelsea and Arsenal. QPR & Reading being cut adrift ensures that.

A penny has just dropped with me....

If we win all our remaining games and Chelsea win all their remaining games (bar the one against us), then it doesn't matter what Arsenal do. :)

Considering Chelsea still have to go to OT and have a tough game against European hopefuls Everton..... the future looks bright, the future looks lily-white!!!

That's the major stumbling block with that one! Having said that, I admire your optimism.

Hence why the arsenal thread is in meltdown.

But we are Spurs and we don't do things the simple way.

Arsenal have an easy run in .. QPR this weekend should be a gimme considering their appauling efforts when survival was still a possibility in recent games.

Wigan away might be tough but that game is 3 days after the FA Cup and either they will be hungover from celebrating or distraught from losing and will roll over either way,

Newcastle should have picked up the 4 points they need for safety by the final day and will just want their awful season to end as soon as possible, especially if Pardew has lost the dressing room as some suggest.

How do you make out that the Arsenal thread is in meltdown?
Most posters are complaining that we are now winning the league. The Top 4 is a given.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,744 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

The top 4 is a given ??? Really? I wish I was that optimistic.

And I'm not specifically referring to the arsenal thread at this moment, Im referring to the numerous posts after the weekend results in which the various permutations where discussed at length.

I've been optimistic all season but failing to beat Wigan has me beaten..

Of the three of us you'd have to fancy Arsenal to win all of their remaining fixtures. Chelsea have such a big squad and we're effectively four points behind them.

Odds against us but you never know in football.. COYS!

This is what's had me worried for the last few weeks though. I was hopeful for the City game, but i know we'll throw away points. And i'd be willing to bet it will be against Stoke, who are probably my most hated team in the league.

I don's see us getting 4th either to be honest. We've given ourselves too big a mountain to climb, and Arsenal have been better then us for a while now.

Every round of games brings something new and many things not so new. I'm giving up on the predictions till maybe Sunday. My head is completely fried from trying to work it all out. It just cant be done, just have to wait til the bloody results roll in. I'm not pessimistic(I'm trying to convince myself), no point giving up as we still have it in our own hands. I'v been trying to give up the ciggerettes but have accepted this can not happen until this thing is done and dusted. So just another 10,000 ciggies devoured between now and the 19th and some normality can return to my little head.

tbh, even at the peak of our form this season, getting 10 points from Stoke(win), Southampton(win), Sunderland(win) and Chelsea (draw) would have been viewed as ambitious.
With our recent form I think that's a huge ask and even if we did get 10 from 12 that still wont be enough to overhaul arsenal if they win their 3 remaining and very winnable games.

    • So we need to either get 12 points from 12 available
    • Get 10 from 12 points as above and hope arsenal/chelsea drop some points
    • and if we get anything less than 10 points, hope for a miracle.

Dembele could be out, hasn't trained yet

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,744 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Wonder if united will be 100% up for the chelsea game now that the incentive of finishing with a record break points total is gone since they dropped 2 points to Arsenal next week.

I thought they did okay at the emirates but the united team of a few weeks ago (which was still looking to secure the title) would have brushed arsenal aside in the 2nd half.

I'd be delighted with a draw at this stage.

I'm sure Ferguson would like to beat Rafa one more time..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

AVB says Dembele should train with the team tomorrow and "there is a good chance" he will be available against Southampton.

Adebayor is also back in contention after experiencing "a small pain in the knee" before the trip to Wigan, which ruled him out.

We have to beat Southampton and pray that United bayte the shite clean outta Chelsea! 17-0 would swing the goal difference! :pac:

Villa are really hitting form and one more win will get them safety so I expect them to go all out next sat to best Chelsea at home

Wigan are in the same boat and when they go to arsenal they will be up for it. How many times have Wigan beaten top teams towards at the end of the season

Hopefully Sunderland may be relegated by final day so we can beat them
