Cant wait to see what new and novel way we **** it away next season. We really our a laughing stock. I dont blame AVB or the players. Just one clamity after another.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭nbar12

Only ourselves to blame but Arsenal's recent form has been magnificent, 8 wins and 2 draws in their last 10 games is something else. I just hope Bale doesn't leave us in the Summer

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,443 ✭✭✭jobeenfitz

Cant remember the last time Spurs won any trophy discounting the Milk Cup. Probably about 20 years.

Even for a mid table side that is quite poor, although sacking Redknapp has obviously cost Spurs. AVB doesnt understand the English game.

Fair play to yee for getting 4th. Your wrong about AVB, Spurs got more points this year than last year under Harry. Or maybe your just trying to get some comedy poking us Spurs fans who are feeling a little raw. Thats to be expected and wouldn't want it any other way.

Not bitter well done ye deserved it, just annoyed , last year we lose out because Chelsea fluke the champions league, this year we lose out by point with 72 points,

I hope levy learns from this and does as AVB asks and puts the team together before season starts

Need something or someone to blame, can't just sit here accepting it as bad luck etc, majorly phhished off.

Can't really blame the team, I was going to say we bottled it but when you look at the results of the last 7-8 games, you can't really say that.

We didn't bottle it, we just lost or drew a few key games where our opponents won. They were better than us towards the end of the season, that's all really

Might as well hit a few home truths here now.

Firstly nothing is gonna change next season, Levy will not change his spending habbits. We might be competing on the pitch with the biggest boys as regards our style of play and the quality of our individual players. Fact remains that we are currently not in a position to compete with them on transfers and wages. To do so would be wreckless. We don't have a sugar daddy or oil Barron or monster stadium to write the cheques. Until our new ground is finsihed that ain't gonna change.

Second. Europa league footballl can not be taken seriously while we have genuine CL aspirations. It has ultimately cost us this season with a combination of too much football for an over stretched first team resulting in a mega dip in form at a crucial moment.

Lastly and at the risk of sounding like a Liverpool fan, next year will be without doubt our year. The fundamentals have never been so good. Despite the frustration of our transfer policy, it has created a very strong back bone financially for the club. Gotta fight fire with fire. Currently we can only afford some expensive players while others can spend as they wish. Don't forget that.

We lost by 1 point. Margins were so small that you cannot blame. We finished the season very well in my view with Man City being a highlight. The Liverpool/Fulham week was our low point obviously.

But i agree with you that the we are in good health.

If we can keep Bale he may actually attract other players to come play here too

Neville got it dead on (again :-)) on sky yesterday. He said we are a smaller club than the top 4 so we will be fifth in line for any top player and even then we wont spend the money anyway so all we can do is try and pick up some young relatively unproven player(s) that will grow into a world class one

Quote from AVB - ""We will have to do it the Tottenham way. We have to scout properly and make good grabs in the transfer market this summer." "

Doesn't sound dead on to me. If we can sign a creative midfielder and striker(s) of the same calibre as Llloris, Vertonghen and Dembele we should be in good shape.

I agree with everything here. The Europa League was a killer, especially the Basle games. That period in the PL season was too important to be playing 120 minutes of football 3/4 days before crucial games. If AVB decides that he wants to compete in that competition again next season we'll have the same problems as our bench is just not strong enough.

But I also agree that the fundamentals of the club are in great shape, from the backroom staff to the squad. A few good signings, keep Bale and we will hopefully avoid the crappy start we had to the season just gone and challenge right from the start.

You don't get it do you? Spurs are a small club according to 95% of Arsenal fans, therefore ofcourse they would celebrate on getting Champions League. Arsenal on the other hand who have been in the Champions League season after season, who are supposedly among the best teams in the world are celebrating finishing 4th on the last day of the season?

The players just proved that Arsenal are marginally (one solitary goal) better than Spurs for a second successive season.

I'm gutted Spurs missed out but don't feel so bad after seeing those images :)

One solitary point, not one solitary goal; our goal difference was so much better than yours that it was worth an additional point.

If Koscielny didnt score Arsenal would have drew. If Newcastle scored, Arsenal would have drew. One goal.

Ifs, buts and maybes - we still scored plenty more goals than you and conceded fewer.

It doesn't work like that, but arsenal did get one point more than spurs and that's all that matters in the end.

I'm quite optimistic for next year, this year, amazingly, 72pts wasn't enough for champions league but we've a rosey future to look forward to and I don't think any of us spurs fans are looking at 4th place being the target for next year.

Yes of course we will but they wont be proven "world class" players. LLoris didnt have much interest in him (even though he is excellent) and dembele cost 15 million.

15 mill seems to be our top price to spend
