Game petered out towards the end of normal time, but decent enough. Both teams play nice football. Shouting for Japan myself, used to live over there!

    Go on Korea!!!

Tis a win-win situation for me. We could really do with having Park back, but it'd be great for him to lead them to the final too.

Can't see them doing it though, Japan do look the better team.

    Penalty! Looked soft to me...

Edit: replay shows definite contact, but perhaps outside the box.

AWW! The keeper saved but just couldn't get to the rebound!

The Koreans were slow in following that up...

    Ah keeper was close

    Penalty to Japan.

Never a penalty I thought, was just outside the line, and looked shoulder to shoulder.

Honda takes, brilliant save, but follow up tapped in.

2-1 Japan, that should be it really.

Korea (rightly) not happy at all with it.

15 minutes left looks like Japan have it, Korea seem prety juiced. Would love Korea to nick a goal and bring it to penalties

Shambolic refereeing for both penalties. South Korea will do well to get back into it.

    Roll on the Socceroos :D

That Peno that Japan got was ridiculous. Never even a foul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,587 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

    Much better from Honda

It was obstruction outside the box. Defender didn't even look to play the ball. Indirect free imo.

Korean making a balls of it now.

Is the Japan keeper gonna do a Ciaran Kelly on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,953 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Korea can't handle the pressure on the penalties...

Could argue professional foul. Like you say, he had no intention of playing the ball.

Well it was good while it lasted. Still an epic comeback.:D

Japan fully deserved it, they are a class above.

Can't wait for the final now.

    :(

    Epic stuff

Fair play to Japan. Korea totally folded for the penalties

Better hit the leaba now, its 1am in Korea now and got work in the morning

Korea completely fell apart in the shout out. Although in fairness, they were a couple of good saves from the keeper.

Did the official announcement of Australia as host for 2015 happen yet?

Will hosting it lead to an increased interest in 'soccer' amongst Australians or was it a case of 'World Cup or fck off'?

Yeah pretty sure it's been confirmed for here.

Australians are very patriotic so will definitely make it a success. They're also bandwagon jumpers in terms of football so crowds will go well because of that.

You see it in the A-League. For a normal game Gold Coast United might get 2000 spectators. Open up the doors and say it's to raise money for the floods then 15000 show up to do their bit for fear of being 'un-Australian'.

There is a very passionate group of hardcore football fans though who will drive the tournament and the Socceroos' good performance in Qatar will certainly help. Obviously hosting a World Cup would be better but the Asian Cup will do well here, definitely.

Is this taking place in Qatar? If so any indication of how it has run? What have crowds been like, what have temperatures been like etc etc?

Poor attendances all the way through, put down to corporate ticket holders not turning up. Also talk of the final itself being oversold, with thousands of fans with tickets turned away at the the stadium.

No vuvuzelas though, so that's something at least.

Anyone watch the final? Australia were fcuking wretched against a mediocre Japanese side and could have taken them apart if not for their lack of passing.

Funnily enough the fact they lost barely made the news here, if they won it would still be on it :pac:
