There isn't enough interest in the West of Ireland to justify funding Connacht in the same way as the other 3 provinces where rugby is popular.

That statement is BS, we don't have MAYBE the same interest as the other provinces BUT we don't have the same population and the interest in rugby IS GROWING. It's there to be seen on an AIL level, club level AND school level, this EVEN with the lack of suport/funding compared to the other provinces.

Proportional to their contribution and importance in the greater scheme of things I think Connacht get enough. It would be great to see the Sportsground improved though.

You say that Connacht don't get funding for NIQ players... but there are more NIQ players in Connacht's squad than in any other Irish squad?

Connacht are producing more and more home grown talent, which is great to see. Realistically though, there is only one Connacht-born player in the Irish squad and he is only there because of injuries. Support follows success and nowadays success is hugely based on finance. In the early days of the ML a Leinster V Munster match would attract only about 7,000 fans, this year they filled the Aviva stadium.

Connacht really need a level playing field with regards to funding if they are to move up to the next level. Should Connacht get through to the H/C next year they'll be the new Italian team in the competition and this will have a huge effect on the remaining Irish teams as we cant draw them thus possibly allowing a 2nd team pregress from their pool, the IRFU should take note of this.
