I think that's my problem with it too. Fallout3, Borderlands and STALKER have all come and gone and this seems a bit stale.

The technology behind it sounds great tho so I'm excited for that alone.

Hopefully the shooting in this is part of what lifts it above those other titles.

Rage will have an online pass...just slightly different then most.

Basically, if you don't buy it new, you won't be able to access certain areas of the game. The Underground will be blocked off. It's not story related, so you can still play through the game completely, but there are hatches that will be locked unless it's new.

Yea, nothing integral to the overall game but just increases your gameplay experience. I don't see a problem with that method.

Neither do i. I'm not actually against regular online passes anyway, but that's a discussion/argument for another thread.

Watching Breaking Bad last week and noticed Jesse playing a game that looked very like Rage but with a light gun. When he died, screen confirms the game is actually Rage, but must be a modified version? Kinda class!

i think the gun was just a bit of tv fiction so they could work it better into the story

He got in a huge sound system with repeating lights. It's behind the tv but not sure if it can be seen in that clip. He likes bright colours and loud noises for reasons I can't get into due to spoilers

Yeah it looks pretty class. I didn't like Fallout 3, but that was 3 years ago, and by looking at the videos it looks like they have perfected the whole post apocalyptic genre. Only found out about this the other day and wasn't planning on getting it, but the few videos of it have convinced me to buy it.

It's a definite buy from me, but i'll be holding off a few weeks until i can get my pc upgraded. An id game needs to be played on a good pc, and mine isn't up to scratch.

Wish I had the cash to upgrade my 260 or at least upgrade to windows 7 64bit so I can play mods

Are you on XP? If you have Win7 already you get the 64bit version with the 32bit version.
The system requirements aren't insanely high either.

no i'm using vista 32bit,was trying to save for windows 7 64bit but other things got in the way

Same thing tho surely? I think the Vista license covers both 32bit and 64 bit. I'll go check.

EDIT: Yes you can, you just need a 64bit installation disk and the same product key.

Ah man I wish I never watched that, I secretly hoped it would be a failure as there's too many games out in the next few months but that video looks fantastic and it's the PS3 version :eek:

My new PC says it would be a crime not too!! It looks like a better version of fallout with proper FPS mechanics which would work so well.

However Dark Souls means I wont be playing it for another month or so at the very least but I will be getting it pending reviews now!!

I was thinking of getting the collectors pack on xbox 360 from Game UK for a while but am unsure.
It costs about 6 euros extra compared to Gamestop and comes with a couple of comic books and a making of DVD.
Is it worth the extra do you think?
Also Game seem to have terrible customer service.
I filled in their web form asking for help with my reward card (which won't work on their website) via their web form twice and they ignored my message.
I tried ringing them on their helpline and had to wait for over half an hour listening to the most annoying garbage music and the guy on the line couldn't help me out and sent an email to another department which made no difference.
So I'm a bit afraid to buy the game off them incase something was wrong with it and I'd have an awful hassle trying to contact them.
I wouldn't want to have to ring them again because it's just too annoying.

also it's a ID software FPS of course the PC is the best platform, anyone who says otherwise is:

I looked at the first 20 minutes of that last video. It looks great, but I hope the whole game doesn't play like this clip. Too many times it was one or two enemies coming from further down the corridor. I'd hope to see them jump out from behind and the flanks to get the player off guard.

Also didn't see any evidence of great AI. In one section (video is down now so can't give the time) the player has 3 bandits on the other side of a door. He lines each of them up to gun down – one at a time – without the others reacting. They should have all rushed him or shifted positions to get the element of surprise.

I like the idea of a more old skool corridor shooter, that is done very well. I just don't want it to get too "corridor".

Not too many RPG elements from what I can gather, weapon customisation is about the height of it.

i wont be popular for this, but Id was always one trick pony.

game will look stuning, but i doubt it will be something momorable.

doom3 was great graphical achievement, but it was quite **** bland shooter.

there was alot of praise for AI, but after few vids, it looked crap.


Pc, will still be best platform though.

Thats just silly... Nearly every big release from ID(As a developer) has been groundbreaking with maybe just the exception of Doom 3... (Which i still thought was pretty damn good at the time.. scared the bejebus outta me anyway).

They don't make full on games very often.. but most of the time they're excellent... certainly not a one trick pony.
