In case anyone else on here likes wildlife photos, this photostream is a bit repetitive, nothing very exotic : birds, foxes, deers, but full of excellent, simple shots.

“ We are not supposed to get emotionally attached to a piece of equipment. “Cameras are tools” we are told. Personally, I think that’s nonsense. To a craftsman, a tool is a very personal thing. Each one is selected for very precise reasons. If you are just making money with cameras, yes, they are just tools. If you are a craftsman, there is a joy in what you are doing and making money is secondary. The reward for what you do isn’t money, it’s the personal satisfaction of doing something that brings you personal joy.

Another of the square format/long exposure/minimalistic crowd. I can't get enough of them :)

i really like that sort of stuff, but some of those shots just lack interest.
    this one is fabulous though.

i was thinking of taking some pinhole shots at night, but quickly realised that with reciprocity failure, a single night would not be *nearly* enough for one exposure.

this is a great idea - could even try it with photos culled from the archives of the random photo thread, to see how good peoples' memories are, or to see how identifiable peoples' styles are.

^^^ You know what the word is :p

As a photojournalist, it’s our job to tell the story as it happened. We do everything right the first time: exposure, composition, color balance…you name it, and we don’t **** it up.

Wait, who am I kidding? Isn’t that what Photoshop is for? Did you shoot on 1600 ISO with tungsten white balance in broad daylight? Never fear, because a real photojournalist doesn’t have time to be a pussy and double check the settings on their gear. We’re too busy being government watchdogs/feature-hunting for kids eating ice cream cones to care about proper exposure, whatever that is.

In fact, with Photoshop, a seasoned photog doesn’t even have to try to make a good image. Just throw your mundane, boring-ass picture into Photoshop and let the ****ing magical CS5 unicorns do their work.

There may not be an un-suck filter, but 15 layer masks can come pretty damn close

I was actually asked during the week if a) I can digital copies of the film I shoot and b) If my camera could be digitalized. If only I'd seen this link beforehand

    (warning! PIMPing in progress!)

So, DarrenG has set a new foodie website, right here: http://poachedeggontoast.com/, to which I also contribute, but it's open for everyone, so if you have any shots that you would like on there, fire away!

It's supposed to grow into some sort of Irish food photography (for Fun!) contribution website thingie-ma-thingie :o
