Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been thinking of getting a Dreambox 500S satellite receiver. I've seen a place in China selling them for as little as €55.

Apparently, a lot of the ones being sold are "clones". What exactly does this mean and does it really matter?

Do these boxes have good picture and sound quality?

    Thanks, Paul

    All dm500s are clones now!

No genuine models being produced anymore!

Got one last week for 65 euro from UK!

Id have gone for a hd model if i had the cash!

@garrycann78, a clone is a copy but not of same quality and the original dream people have fought back by ensuring if you load some images to box it wil brick it. For the money the picture quality is not bad but most people use its extended facilities. If you are adept at linux and know a bit then ok but if a newbie be careful.

No bother GB. I have a technomate 500 linux and a dreambox 500s already but you can never have too many.

I have a two DM500s one original and one clone. There is no difference in these except the price.

Gemini did upload images that bricked the clone but to be safe load a Pli image and you will have no worries.

If you want to be really safe go for a Technomate 500. They can be picked up for about £80 and in my opinion they are are a more user friendly box.
