Should a brand new Irish Canon EF 400mm lens come with hood?

Just collected a brand new Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens from an Irish camera store and there is no lens hood with it yet it shows one on the manual.

I had this lens before and it came with a lens hood. I noticed the box was not sealed too does anyone know should the lens hood be standard with this lens please?

I presume so - canon.ie states "The lens also has a built-in hood and a detachable tripod mount."

Yeah, am pretty sure all L lenses come with hood as standard.

I wouldn't be 100% sure, but I can't believe that it doesn't come with a hood.

Go back to the shop and ask.

Woops Borderfox you are correct it has a built in hood that pulls out

Thanks very much i had to pull it hard to get it out.

It was confusing because th emanual inside shows the external black plastic hood and it even shows a diagram showing how to put it on in reverse when storing it in the bag.

Must have been the instructions for a 100-400L.
