Get yourself a Landline number for free with blueface :)

If you have a Landline phone then buy a Linksys PAP2 Adapter cheaply and plug your landline into the Linksys box and the Linksys box into the Broadband, you have to configure it of course. But the end result is your family can call the local number in Ireland and your phone will ring in Spain :)

    magicjack is very good.

It gives you a landline phone (through your computer and interent connection, connected via USB) but then you can call all the landline and mobile phones you want at home for as long as you want and you are given a phone number and people can call you as though you have a regular landline as long as it is always connected.

But if you just want to use it when you need it you can just connect it and call home and you're sorted, no point in them waisting money calling you when you can call as much as you like with a once off fee.

Because it used to be advertised on TV people are sceptical, but read any review from any authentic computer magazine or online source and they will all say the same - the thing is brilliant.

Other than that, Skype does the job for me, but you have to prearrange call times usually. You can also use it for regular calling and texting at a fairly decent price compared to calling cards etc.

Skype and MagicJack are fine, but you need a computer for them to work.

A PAP Adapter gives you an actual phone. without the need for a computer.

Movistar pay as you go phones have a good deal for calling home. You choose your country and you can call for 15 cent a min off peak hours. Feckin killer prices in the daytime though, about a euro a min
