Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What does it matter if they do or not? - they are developed to the Freesat standard which makes them fit for purpose or they couldn't be described as Freesat

Yes they do. Both Freesat and Freeview need MHEG5 for the BBC interactive.

But the only other Satellite service likely to be received in Ireland that would use MHEG5 is possibly Saorsat. Saorsat won't work on a Freesat receiver as it needs DVB-S2, MPEG4 and HD. You need a "Freesat HD" receiver. If you want to get Saorsat only, probably any "Freesat HD" will work. If you want Freesat and Saorsat you will need 2 x LNB feeds (one Ku @ 28.2E and one Ka @ 9E) and Diseqc or Multiswitch, and the receiver will need Disedc. Not all Freesat HD receivers support Diseqc. Also some may not support MHEG5 via "other channels".

    Is Saorsat available now?

And would a Freesat HD receiver run both (Freesat and Saorsat) with a 7 day EPG?

a quick google of Saorsat answers that.

No, the Satellite is for Two way Internet mainly and is still being commissioned. No Saorsat till end May 2011 or start June 2011

Some should. Though we can't exactly be sure of PVR operation and MHEG5 till the service is running and RTE NL have added MHEG5 EPG and PVR series links on Saorview.

Some don't have Diseqc switching currently, which means you would have to manually switch the LNB cable with a switch box to swap between Freesat and Saorsat.
Some have limited or awkward functionality to select non-Freesat channels.

Most non "Freesat HD" HD DVB-S2 sat receivers have no Freesat EPG and almost none have BBC Interactive (MHEG5). MHEG5 is built in on all "Freesat HD" and might be needed for Saorsat PVR features. There should be 7 day (or near 7 day) EPG on Saorsat with any HD DVB-S2 sat receiver though.
