Not too sure on the snooker bets as I've only seen O'Sullivan play that Austrian lad so far. Murphy is decent though and will probably keep it close. If O'Sullivan does turn up he could whipe him out but he didn't look too impressive in the first round; he was good though. I'd imagine Munster / Leinster will surely win the Magners league! Based on what I've seen of the rugby this year Leinster could go on to win that and the heineken cup
Ronnie beat Dale(Welsh) 10-2. He was impressive in fairness and could have had 2 147's, but Dale is a very poor player and I expected a win there even tho Ronnie hadn't won a ranking tournament match since last November I think. Murphy has been in great form this season, and won his 1st round match 10-1. I thinks its a 50/50 match, and id slightly favour Murphy so I think the +4.5 is a great headstart. Ronnie is Ronnie tho so the bookies have got a bit carried away with his 1st round match imo. I think snooker is one of the easiest sports to make money on personally.

As for the Magners league, when do Munster ever lose in Thomand? And how often do Leinster lose at home? So it shud be an all Irish final. And, in the off chance one of them lose then one of the Irish teams will be at home in the final providing they finish 1/2 so ud still expect the Irish team to win. Hopefully Ulster can cling on in the top 4. I want to get this bet on early 2mro because Ulster are at home to Connacht 2mro evenin(Fri evenin) and so hopefully can get a bonus point win. And Munster( with a very strong squad, no startin 15 named yet) are away to the Ospreys(who are Ulsters main top 4 challengers) on Sat. The top 4 will probably be Munster Leinster Cardiff Ulster/Ospreys

I have just been on oddschecker and WOW!!! Anyone thats on Boylesports then get on asap, they are offering Williams to win quarter 3 at 4/9! I know snooker pretty well and was considering PP's 1/3 a good bet. That is a massive price!!!!

Anybody thats interested in having a snooker bet i think John Higgins at 10/11 is value against O Sullivan

Rafael Nadal v Juan Martin del Potro

Racing Post tipped Del Porto (4 point tip) to win.
    Odds of 9/2

^ Nadal wins without even hitting a shot!! Del Potro withdrew with a hip injury. Did the bookies void the bet or take the money? I think it's a bit nasty if they don't void it tbh

Hurricanes +5 and the Reds -14 both look good tomorrow morning in Super Rugby.

Yeah I like the Hurricanes at +5. Blues are missing a few key players so I reckon under 49.5 pts at 5/6 in this one is a decent bet too.

If Reds are to win easily then I reckon Ioane will be on the scoresheet. 11/10 for him. Rebels usually leak alot of points early on so gonna back over 24.5 pts in the first half.

The Lions Cheetahs game is likely to be a humdinger- both sides have very porous defences so will go large on over 50pts in that match. Also gonna back Sarel Pretorious to score. He's on fire for the Cheetahs

Highlanders and the Crusaders both +2 on Sat are both worth backing too. Highlanders up against Chiefs who are just back from Sth Africa tour so likely to be jetlagged and Crusaders have Read back at no.8 so fancy them against Stormers

Truely excellent stuff mate, well done. Shame about the Hurricanes at the end there with Keats fumbling over the line (between that and his yellow, not the best game for him!). The Reds made us sweat at the end but held on thankfully. Should be a cracker later on and I'd have to fancy the Cheetahs although might follow you on the overs.

A few big tips from bettingzone.co.uk
Pacquiao to beat Mosley on points at 15/8 (bet365).
Younger and fresher but Mosley has a serious chin, size advantages and has never been stopped.

With a fight against welterweight rival Floyd Mayweather seemingly further away than ever for the moment given 'Pretty Boy' Floyd's current legal strife, Manny defends his WBO welterweight crown against 46-6-1 (39) Mosley.
It's an intriguing battle given that Mosley, a three-weight world champion, remains a marquee name who will have significant height and reach advantages. And the California man is certainly losing no sleep over his underdog status.
Shane's chin has never been found wanting at this level (never stopped in 54 pro fights) and I reckon he still has enough about him to be competitive on Saturday night.
He never looked like beating Mayweather last year but at the same time Mayweather never looked like forcing a stoppage either. This really is Shane's last hurrah and while I don't think he has the speed to repel the rampaging Filipino I do fancy him to go out on his shield and therefore reckon the Pacquiao points win looks the way to go.

4pts Walsall to be relegated at 9/4 (Blue Square).

5pts Hereford/Draw in double chance market at 4/5 (Paddy Power, Victor Chandler).
Stats all point to this being the way to end the season.

Cheers man, I didn't see the Hurricanes game but by all accounts they were very unlucky but on the flipside you could argue that the Reds were lucky to beat the 14 pt handicap- 1 from 6 kicks for the Rebels is criminal at that level, was sure Mortlock was gonna nail that last conversion.

Have backed the Cheetahs myself but I don't think there'll be much in that game.

I see McCaw is out for the Crusaders tomorrow so I am regretting putting them in an accum. Stormers missing a few players there too so could go either way.

What dya reckon about Munster later -13?? I lost a fair few quid on them last week so not immediately inclined to back them again but in saying that they may wanna put in a big performance for their fans. O'Connell, O'Leary, Howlett and O'Gara start so Connacht could get a mauling

McCaw is a big loss alright but considering Reid is coming it, it could be argues that it's a straight replacement. Think I'll still take them to be honest. In regards to Munster later on I'd be prone to going the other way to be honest. Think Connacht have another big performance in them and would fancy their chances. Won't be backing them to win but 11/2 is a big price. Will take them on the handicap anyway, 13 is too big in my eyes. Don't let me turn you off Munster mate by the way!

All true, for that reason I am gonna avoid betting any significant sum on Munster game.
Crusaders have so much fire power that they can beat anyone, I've already included them in an accum but not gonna stake any more cash on them.

I wouldn't be overly confident about my Connact bet to be honest considering their record against Munster, especially in Thomand Park. Good luck anyway mate.

Cheers man, best of luck to you too.

Odds are up for overs/unders in the Cheetahs game- 57.5 is what they are offering so I am only going to have a small bet (€10) on this. Also small bets on both Cheetahs and Lions to score over 29 pts to hedge a bit..
€10 on S Pretorious anytime scorer at 17/10 too

Leins vs Glasgow- First half point over 21.5 at 5/6 €30 returns €55
and Nacewa anytime scorer at 6/4 - €20 returns €50

The Leinster bets screwed me..shouldve stuck to my original fancy of a big bet on overs in Cheetahs game..had them to win in an accum so just broke even in the end when couldve been up a nice sum.

Going for under 42.5 pts in the Waratahs game now at 10/11

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 728 ✭✭✭joebucks

Over 48.5 pts in the Sharks Brumbies game at 5/6- €60

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 728 ✭✭✭joebucks

Toulon at 7/5 away to Montpellier and Racing Metro away to Stade Francais are well worth a punt today as both team need to win to try and get home advantage for playoffs..

Montpellier can still also qualify so tough game for Toulon but worth a small bet. Other game is a Paris derby so will be close but Metro should have enough

Highlanders vs Hurricanes - There is little between these sides so should be a close game. When they met earlier this season it was 14-9 to the highlanders. I expect another low scoring game here so I am gonna take Under 44.5 points at 5/6 on pp

Reds vs Blues. The two form sides in the tournament, so I'm finding it very hard to call this one..Blues have a great record away in Brisbane but the reds look capable of beating anyone on their day..may have a bet on unders/overs in running depending on how open it is..should be a cracking game

Highlanders won 13-6 so under 44.5 easily covered.

Reds Blues game was a 37-31 win to Reds..I hope some of ya's were on overs in that..

Tonight Leinster play a seriously depleted Ulster side in Magners semi..Handicap is 10 points..Leins should easily cover this but with an eye on the Heineken next week they may jsut do enough to win game..Team A(leinster) to score over 2.5 tries is a great bet at evens.

Clermont -7 to beat Biarritz worth a shot too in french quarters..clermont have great home record whereas Biarritz are poor away from home. Clermont thumped them in this fixture earlier in season too

Tomorrow morning Super xv..Stormers -2 to beat the chiefs at 10/11 is a great bet IMO..Stormers have habana and their regular flyhalf back from injury so should win comfortably

    Also worth backing are

Overs in Bulls/Rebels and Cheetahs/Crusaders games

Ashley-cooper anytime try against Lions .

Be quick!!!!!!!!!!!! check the tigers rugby game, highest scoring half is 4/5 for the 2nd half.

the 1st half with 6 mins to play is currently 0-0:D:D:D get on!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 728 ✭✭✭joebucks

Mixed results in the Super xv last week. Stormers let me down big time, throwing away a 11 pt half time lead.

The early game on Friday is the Blues vs the Stormers. The Blues will be looking to bounce back from defeat to the Reds and have Jerome Kaino back in the side which is a massive boost for them. The Stormers however have lost 3 key players in flyhalf Peter Grant and Springbok partnership of De Villiers and Fourie, who are all out injured.

Early odds on pp are 2/5 for the Blues to win and a handicap of 6 pts.

Gonna back the Blues -6 at 10/11- €55 while that price is still available.

Also on Friday I fancy Harlequins to beat Stade Francais in the Challenge cup final. SF have been poor this season and were lucky to make the final. Single on Quins to win at 10/11 and also small bet on Quins -6 at 15/8 looks nice.

A shocking second half by the Blues last week allowed the Stormers to sneak an away win coming from 14 pts down.
Harlequins somehow managed to dig out a win in The Challenge Cup final so these things even out I guess..

Unreal turnaround by Leinster and hopefully some of you guys got a taste of that.

The Magners League final this weekend and the bookies are giving Munster a 2 pt head start..I am going to avoid this one as Leinster will have their tails up after Saturdays win and will want to finish off season in style. However Munster's record at Thomond speaks for itself and they will not want to finish the season empty handed so will be giving it everything and there is the added incentive of pissing on Leinster's parade. Should be a cracking game anyway.

Bets that I do fancy this weekend are
Montpellier +5 at 10/11- With Galthie in charge Montpellier will give anyone a game and won't get whipped by anyone, Racing havent been hugely impressive and upset could be on cards here
Toulouse at 4/7- game is on in Marseille and will be close but w/o Rougerie Clermont may struggle
Hurricanes -8 at 4/9- Force have left out some key players for this so see an easy victory for the 'canes
Stormers -8 at 10/11- Brumbies are very poor this year and Stormers will be on a high after last weeks win. Elsom also missing so Stormers pack will annihilate Brumbies upfront.

Accum of these results pays 7.5/1- €20 on that returns €165

    Also €50 on:
Over 50 points in the Bulls/Cheetahs and Reds/Crusaders games

Reds Crusaders game on Sunday morning will be another cracker..Like the Munster/Leinster game very little in it but both teams will go for it. Fancy the Crusaders to edge it.

    Great post mate, as always.

Personally I quite like the look of Hurricanes too but the 14 points handicap is very large. The Force have so many key players missing though. Will have to think it over before tomorrow.

Stormers are another of yours I really like the look of this weekend. 8 points seems very fair.

Aside from that I'm torn in the Highlanders game but might take the Lions +14. With Butch James gone back to center, they should have more balance.

In the big one on Sunday, I'm leaning towards the Reds +2. Have been backing them all season and shouldn't stop now. Although I might be tempted by the over/under market instead and just enjoy what could be the best game of the season.

    Nice one man.

The Hurricanes have All Blacks Conrad Smith and Corey Jane back in their team, so combine that with Ma Nonu and Hosea Gear in the backline you have a seriously potent side. I don't like backing anything over -10 points on the handicap as once a side has the bonus point wrapped up they tend to take their foot of the gas whereas the losing side will battle till the end to try and get a losing bonus and possibly 4 try bonus too.
The Hurricanes to score over 3.5 tries at 5/4 on pp.com looks a great bet here. Gonna stick €60 on that.

Hopefully that will kick the weekend off nicely. Lions +14 looks a decent bet. Jantjes at outhalf looks a quality player for them so could cause Highlanders some problems, they are accomodating him in the side by moving James to 12.

Depending on how these go I may have a punt on Leinster too, I see you've included them in an accum..From 1-15 they look the far superior side. O'Connell and Howlett are the only two that would be guaranteed a start for Leinster. If he starts Barnes could be exposed badly against Drico in the centre..will wait to see the lineups anyway

A decent week last week so hopefully see some more winners this week. 3 matches in the Super XV tomorrow. Gonna avoid the Highlanders/ Force game. The other 2 games look like there is some value on offer

    Super XV
Rebels vs Stormers. Over 5.5 tries at 6/5. HT handicap Stmers -5 at 4/6. Large stake on both.

Rebels had a bye week last week and are normally slow starters so I expect the Stormers to be ahead by at least a couple of penalties at half-time. Rebels pack will be dominated by the Stormers so I reckon the Stormers will bag the bonus point win but the Rebels are likely to throw ball around to try keep it away from the Stormers pack so will probably run in at least two scores themselves while also leaving themselves open to intercepts from the likes of De Villiers and Habana who are worth looking at to score anytime.

Bulls vs Waratahs- Waratahs +9 at 10/11. Small stake.
I expect this to be a close game as both are fighting for a place in the playoffs. +9 is a generous handicap for the Tahs in what should be a very tight game

    Top 14
Toulouse vs Montpellier- Montpellier +9 at 10/11.

Tahs hold out to get a losing bonus point despite being reduced to 14 men so happy with that.

Should be some exciting games tomorrow and I expect there to be quite a few tries.

At 0630 Hurricanes face the Lions the handicap offered is 13 points. I am gonna steer clear of this as Lions are capable of running in a few scores so may be close but expect the Hurricanes backline containing 6 All Blacks to get the try bonus point. Team A over 3.5 tries at 5/6

Blues- Chiefs: Always a keenly contested game between these two. Blues always start well at home and Chiefs have plenty of firepower too so I expect it to be an open game despite the last time these tow played in horrendous conidtions finishing under 30pt. Gonna go for over 20.5 first half points here at 5/6

Reds vs Brumbies- Reds are the best team in the tournament right now and are unstoppable at home. I fully expect them to secure bonus point win here. Team A Over 3.5 tries at 8/11.

Treble of these 3 comes in just under 5/1. SO gonna have small punt on that as well as 3 large singles.

Also double on Gear and Ioane score a try in 80 mins at 3/1.

Hurricanes were they only ones to step up, Gear picked up another two tries. Poor Ioane was knocked clean out though so went off early. The other results let me down big time and had a decent wedge on overs in the Cheetahs game too so turned out to be a sobering week for betting on super xv which has been very profitable for me in the recent weeks.

After last weeks results and given the fixtures at hand this week it is very difficult to see how things will go this weekend.

A couple of bets that look decent tomorrow are the Hurricanes to score over 1.5 tries at 5/6 and Brumbies under 33.5 points v Rebels. at 5/6. 10€ dbl pays €33.61

Brumbies have only scored over 30 points once this season and are unlikely to do so again in an Aussie derby game against the poor Rebels. If Rebels loose this they are guaranteed the wooden spoon, but if they win it like they won the previous fixture between the 2 sides then it will be Brumbies looking at wooden spoon.

'Canes have been in decent tryscoring form lately and Nonu may be out to prove point after being told his services are not req'd next season. Both teams are playing to avoid the wooden spoon so both will likely go for it and play some decent rugby.

Quite like the Chiefs on the 6 handicap myself to be honest, the Hurricanes are in an almighty mess. Will be taking the Chiefs no problem.

Quite like the Brumbies minus 12 as well, they'll be buzzing after last week and the Rebels morale must be at an all time low.

Haven't quite made my mind up for the rest of the weekends games yet, will have to do a bit more research today.

    Good luck though mate.

Brumbies made hard work of the handicap in the end... but covered it!

there is surely value in the u20's world championship tonight? baby blacks and baby boks usually put up enormous scores in this comp.

Some serious mismatches in the under 20 world cup all right, will have a look to see if there is any value. Also have to check out the Churchill Cup as there was a couple of bets I fancied earlier in the week but didnt back them and you know how they turned out:rolleyes:

England Tonga should be a very high scoring game on Sunday..

Fair play to the Brumbies for digging out the late score to cover the handicap and kept it under 33.5 so everybody happy!

Tomorrows games are tough to call. You would have to fancy the Reds to bounce back after last week but have a very poor away record to the Force and the Force have had some very good performances themselves lately too. Best avoided.

    Good luck anyway lads.

Tonga +29 looks good value here. +20 at 2/1 could tempt me also.

roman poite dishing out penalty tries for sport here! the first was the quickest PT I've ever seen!

england should surely cover the 31 point spread now.

Gonna have 20 quid on unders in the final NHL playoff game. Vancouver just edge it with home ice (adv) on their side but Boston are the better team overall IMO so it's hard to call. Home ice has been a massive factor up to now.

    Interesting stat -

Home team in stanely cup final game 7 = 80%
Home team in final game 7, wins 18 of last 19!

Good stuff, 40 quid total I had on it. A single and double(as posted in the footy thread, Santos DNB was pushed) :)

Nice call unfortunately I've missed out on most of this action. Will have to do some research into the Churchhill Cup final on Sat. I will be an easy enough win for England, the question is by how much. England have some quality players like Matt Stevens who are aiming for places in the RWC squad so will be out to prove a point

Have also missed out on the U20 betting so far- NZ were handicapped by 28 points against Wales on Tues and won it by 92..I hope some of ya's were on this. Will be interesting to see what handicap they are given against the Bargies.
Some very high scoring games all round as pointed out by Will23 and I expect the Eng/SA and Aus/Fr games to be no different. Ire vs Scot and Italy vs Wales are best avoided.

Super XV is very hard to call this weekend. Alot of derby games and teams aiming to secure playoff positions- probably best avoided this weekend as there is bound to be a surprise or two.

I see Michalak is starting at 10 for the Sharks against the Bulls, it's a huge game for both teams..this could be a disaster or an inspirational selection so will have a look at in-running betting on this one to see if there's any edge to be had.

i find it hard to see the sharks cause an upset against the bulls, especially in pretoria. bulls have been grinding out the results lately, while the sharks, after an excellent start to the championship seems to be suffering from the jitters big time!

chiefs to take the reds (at home) is a good punt (reds missing too many big game players and qualified with home semi already!)

that aside, i agree super 15 this week is best avoided!

NZ are up against argentina in the u20's next, who wales beat with ease in the opening round, ya as you say should be an interesting handicap. NZ will just get better as players learn to gel more in a comp like this, but it will be very difficult to beat 92-0!! (Didnt take the -28, damn 5pm games!!)

Haven't been that impressed with SA, reckon england could take em' (although they have been poor also!)

The Bulls/Sharks game should be very interesting as both sides will know what they have to do to qualify as their game is on in the late afternoon and Waratahs will have already played. If the 'tahs lose then both sides are guaranteed a top 6 finish however if Tahs win then it will be a straight shoot out between the two and would have to fancy Bulls.

Stormers play Cheetahs in last game and will also know if they need Bonus point etc so that could be a very open game. Crusaders also vying for home semi so should be high-scoring game against the 'Canes--may do a dbl over 50 pts in both these games.

I see bet365 are giving NZ a 54 point handicap in U20s..I'll wait to see their lineup before punting. If they have Sopoaga and their other big guns are starting then I'll defo take them at this.

Eng/SA could go either way but there should be plenty of points in the game so will look at point spreads on offer.

Most of the bets have been going to form today- Wins for Reds, Crusaders, Waratahs but a big surprise as the Bulls lost to the Sharks. And NZ only managed a 33 pt victory over Arg in U20s

In under 20s RWC get on over 46.5 pts in Sth Africa vs England at 5/6 starting now..

joe, if its any consolation i had under 46.5 in bulls/sharks... two converted tries in the last 5-6 mins brought it to 49...!

Very unlucky. What do you think of Stormers to win the tournament at 11/4? They have a home semi and I can't see any of the other sides going and beating them in Cape Town. They will most likely face the Crusaders in the semi's and then the Reds in the final.

Australia vs Baby Blacks on Weds should be a great game. Looking forward to see what markets are available in that. NZ will smash them.
