Back carrier prices

Went to Halfords to get a back bike carrier for a bike for one of my son's in college. All were pannier type. Cheapest was mid-30s and it needed two bolts on the axle stays coming from under the saddle post for fixing. The 'bog standard' carrier, which looked like a bit of kit from Star Wars, with a spring clip was over €80. What happened to the cheap and cheerful wire-frame back carrier that I grew up with?

Try Artane Cycles. Got one there for E15 a couple of months back - the cheap and cheerful ones you're talking about. Make sure you get the right fittings though. The top definitely needs a nyloc nut.

Picked up a back carrier (spring clip type) with all the fittings in The Bike Shop in Wexford yesterday. Great service. Cost a very reasonable €18 in total.
