Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think they're lacking some contrast and a few are overblown.

Number 3 has potential. I would shoot it vertical down around the tree stump and having it lead into the path.

#3 and #5 for me. Again a bit of tweaking on exposure and contrast might help.

I was on that walk too, haven't gone through my photo's yet tough.

Also there's feet in the top right of #1 and I find the loose branches and leaves to clutter some of the images.

No.3 for me too. But try and get a lot lower. Also bump up the contrast a lot and perhaps try it in black and white.

I edited a few of them. Are they better ?

Do you think they're better? Do you like high contrast? A lot of this personal taste.

I still like no.3 and I think it's improved with a bit of processing.
The others I don't particularly care for. There's nothing really to grab your attention and as I've said before you should try and get lower to offer a different perspective. Also less is more and these are visually cluttered but that's nature for you!

I'll try and get back up there this weekend and get a shot of the stump closer to the ground like you said. I do think they are better than the originals.

    Thanks for the help.

I guess a lot of composition is about trying to create a mood. The stump and the corridor of trees is interesting because it suggests something happened and that there is also something back there beyond view. If you make it all dark or bright and colourful you control that mood.

    Here is a quick example:
    attachment.php?attachmentid=145937&stc=1&d=1296511180

Unusual perspectives such as getting down low or using wide and telephoto lenses help to screw with what seems normal and add to the mood. Then again that may not be to your taste but it's certainly worth exploring.

Gotta say I like the higher contrast , but Id have em less saturated...the portrait crop def works for number 5 as 5uspect has eluded to there

I'm going to go back out this weekend and try to take a few shots like those suggested here.

    Thanks for the help !
