HIP HOP PIONEER KOOL HERC IN HOSPITAL AND IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

AllHipHop reports that Hip Hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc (real name Clive Campbell) is currently in the hospital suffering from an unknown health condition.

According to Gangstarr’s DJ Premier, Kool Herc’s health is deteriorating and he is in need of financial assistance, because he reportedly doesn’t have health insurance.

Premier revealed on his XM Satellite radio show,

Kool Herc is very sick. For those that know about Hip-Hop, who we call the father of Hip-Hop, Kool Herc, is not doing well. It’s funny how we have a father of a culture that still lives, where as in some cultures they are dead and gone even though they may still be worshipped or reflected on in some kind of way.

Being as though he is the man who set this whole culture off, y’all [the fans] should be willing any type of way you can.”

Premier claims to have spoken to Herc, who revealed that he was in need of financial assistance because he didn’t have medical coverage.

“He’s very sick and has no insurance, uses a metro card to get around, needs to pay his bills so he can get out of the hospital, it’s ill…

This is sad news and I hope DJ Kool Herc pulls through, but DJ Premier’s call to fans for donations irritates me to the core.

Some of the fans are probably in financial dire straits themselves, after all we are living in financially difficult times. So why not contact your famous rich peers Premier and while your at it dig in to your own deep pockets? That should sort out the problem within a matter of days.

Yeah, had hear was wasn't doing too well also, didn't know about his financial situation though tbh. There is due to be a paypal acc setup for Herc at least. If there is I'll try to organize a night for a whip around and send it through that.

I think it's a little bit inappropriate for Premier to be asking his fans for donations, I mean you would think some people in the industry would get together and cover his costs but it's the same story with Nate Dogg, I think it was Warren G that mentioned something about setting up a website asking people for donations to cover his medical expenses?
