I vote A today.... let's get the big fella outta lockup and see if he can be of any help. The more hands and brains the better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 356 ✭✭wavehopper1

    A for me.

And it's not just Mickey locked up, there are others locked up with him. I don't want to delegate freeing them, I'd rather be the one that they owe their freedom to.

A - i wana meet mickey and the others and we can check what qualifications they have - they were locked up because they were in the original fighting party with Appollo and Eva - they kicked major zed ass then refused to give in to a dictator like Dolenz - we need these guys

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Rick Deckard

A- for the same reason i used when it came up after Dolenz escaped

    A for me.

The lads in the Lock up are probably going to be the most useful in the group.

I would release the group first, talk to them and make sure they know who they owe they freedom to, then go and talk to Mickey, suss him out and see what he knows and what he can do to help.

Oh and as for the construction materials, why bother, we already have a few sandbags:D

In light of a deleted post I would like to change my vote :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,394 ✭✭✭DakotaYoda

Right - or I amend my vote to A - but check the door really, really well and listen to see if anything sounds odd before opening the door. Plus I'd assume the doors were guarded so I would hope the guards would have heard anything suspicious... :p

“Ok Eve show me where they keep the prisoners and lets see if we can start to make ourselves an army“
Eve starts to talk but is cut off by Apollo, “its ok I’ll take him, you are needed here” Apollo interjects
Eve starts to protests but again Apollo stops her in her tracks, “I said I’ll take him”.
Eve stays quite, it’s the first time you’ve noticed any hostility between them so maybe there’s more to there relationship then meets the eye.
“ ok lets go” Apollo says and we head off in the direction of the gym with Apollo striding ahead with purpose, good you think someone who wants to get things done and fast ,I like his style.
As you pass eve she silently and quickly pushes her machete under my belt and walks away without ever making eye contact with me.
I stop and stare after her my mind racing, is there a split already ? Do some of the other survivors want Eve Apollo and me kicked out? Does Dolenz still have support here?.
Apollo shouts at me to hurry up and this breaks my train of thought.
The sooner I get Mickey and the other prisoners out on our side the better.
We arrive at the gym and go inside walking past the changing rooms and stopping outside a heavy windowless door .
“This is it” Apollo says and gestures at the door.
It is a thick wooden door with strong metal hinges written in crude red paint is a simple word “DANGER” dolenz wanted everyone to stay away says Apollo.
“Ok lets go in” I say , well I tell them dolenz is gone and I want them freed to help with all our survival im sure they will be ok.
“That sounds like a plan to me” Apollo responds, “just give me your rifle so they know your not a threat and I will watch your back from the door in case any of them get a bit frisky”
I pass my rifle and ammo over and think that he’s right its better to go in unarmed so I don’t spook them and in sure when I explain myself everything will be ok.
Ok im ready open the door, Apollo swings the door wide and im greeted by a large long store room that is very dark and dimly lit which makes it very hard to see more than a few feet in front of me.
“Is there any lights” I ask “yeah yeah ,just keep going they are on the side wall about 8 feet to your left.”
Why is he so quite now I wonder surely he wants Mickey to know we are here and to show himself.
I reach the side wall I pat my hands along it looking for the switch ,the wall is dripping wet and my hands are soaked when I suddenly find the switch and flick it.

The first thing I see is my hands are covered in blood, brains and small pieces of flesh and hair. Someone has been slammed and smashed against the wall numerous times, it is covered in human remains.
I turn towards Apollo knowing deep down what’s going on.
“Sorry buddy” Apollo says “ the opportunity was to good to miss, with you and dolenz gone I can take over this place and eve will see who’s top dog around here” “ oh by the way Mickey was bitten but no one knew till we put him down here with the others prisoners, lets just say he had a field day with them” “ only thing was after he bit and killed the others he was still here and rumours were starting to spread that’s why dolenz wanted you to kill him” “ only dolenz me and that woman that eve stuck her machete in knew the truth as we were there when he turned, but hey that’s the past good luck and hey if you make it out I might let you be my number two in command” “ I will come back tonight to check on you and see which one is still standing” Apollo laughs and the door slams shut.

My mind is racing , my mouth is now as dry as a bone and I can feel my heart beating hard in my ears.
I hear movement coming from the back of the room behind someone storage boxes. I scan the room and all around are body parts ,blood, and bones . I have no idea how many of the 6 are Z’s or how many were just torn up by Mickey and are of no threat.
Slowly I walk towards the side of the room wiping my hands on my pants to get rid of all the blood.
My hand touches something hard and cold. .its eves machete, maybe I have a chance after all.
I take out the machete and turn it over in my hands it feels solid just the right weight, suddenly I feel a bit better and mutter to myself “come on Mickey you big f**ker come and get it”.
First Mickey then Apollo im getting out of this room then im getting revenge.

Before I can fantasize about what I will do to Apollo, I see him ,all six foot plus of him
He’s huge standing well over six foot with massive shoulders an arms.
Mickey sees me and lumbers towards me.
Ok he’s big but slow just keep moving and wait for the right moment to strike, I stand still and stare at him he gets within 4 feet of me before he lunges at me, I sidestep easily.
If he grabs me im history but his size and the fact he has not had any fresh meat recently are slowing him done. He lunges again and I move to my left.
This happens 3 more times when I see out of the corner of my eye about a dozen long metal poles laid out side by side at the back of the room.
I make my way towards them as Mickey lunges after me.
When I get close enough I jump over them so they are between me and Mickey.
He lunges at me again getting closer to the poles, come on just one more lunge I think.
He tries again but this time he steps on the poles and the roll out from under him, he comes crashing to the ground.
Before I can give it a moments thought I run over swinging the machete wildly .I catch him on the arms , shoulder and face causing massive damage but not stopping him from trying to get to his feet, just as he is on one knee I change plan and hack down on the leg still on the floor just below the ankle,3 good blows and its hanging off. Now that he cant get up I step back catch my breath compose myself and land 6 blows to the top of his head splitting his head completely.
He slumps to the ground dead for the second time.
I scan the rest of the room and spot a old ladder hanging on the wall, looking up towards the roof I see a sky light, why didn’t the prisoners try to escape? I think, maybe they were guarded more closely back then or Mickey turned before they got a chance. Before I can decide what to do I hear another moan followed by one more coming from a different part of the room. Are there more Z‘s? Are they only coming out now that Mickey is gone?
    What will I do?

A…search the room wipe out any more Z’s then use the ladder to escape
B…just get ladder and get out as soon as you can
C…search room wipe out Z’s and wait for Apollo to come back to check on you killing him as he walks in

I'm feelin' saucy and I also know there are Z's inside our secure building - I need to take them out to maintain the integrity of our shelter.

I vote for C - first the Zeds and then Apollo.

Now that I'm all paranoid about thinking through my choices..... :p

I'm gonna say C. Search and destroy, then lay in wait for Apollo.

A- wipe out any shufflers, then up the ladder and hunt down apollo. Best defence etc...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 356 ✭✭wavehopper1

A for me. Hanging around inside a locked room while Apollo takes charge doesn't cut it - especially that I have one allie in Eva. I'm concerned that others didn't try to make it up to the skylight - maybe it's blocked but once I've killed the Zees, so what. Maybe Dolenz had somebody watching the roof, but I'll take that chance - Apollo won't have had the time to take over yet.

    C for me!
it's time to take Apollo down :P

I like the way SunGod is the person who spelt his own demise though XD

    B) GTFO, Leave the Remaining Z's for apollo ;) He'll be meeting them soon enough :pac:

    A. I'm going for A But everything slow and careful from now on.:o

    A) Got to clear them out first. If you climbed the ladder and couldn't get out be very difficult to kill a zombie from that angle!
Also If i am going after apollo, it is when I am ready, not him. If we waited till he came to door, he knows he is in for a fight (Zombies or myself) so will be prepared.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Korvanica

    A for me...

Going straight for the ladder will attract their attention to you anyway so you may as well Kill 'em All ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 460 ✭✭keithc83

    A for me as well.
Get rid of as many z's as you can!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,677 ✭✭✭deise go deo

    A for me.

Waiting for Apollo just gives him the chance to establish himself as leader. And who knows if he will ever come back, he has no need to.

If I am going to take on Apollo it will be on my terms, suprise will be the best weapon you have when you tackle him.
In the mean time, there are Z's in the room that have no place inside a secure area. Deal with them first, then Apollo.

Eying the ladder, I listen to the moans; I could go for the ladder, but I'd have to set the machete down to get it off the wall and at the very least, there are two more zombies in the room. I glance down at Mickey's still form, thankful that in his zombified state he'd gotten rid of the rest of them for me - I'm fairly confident in myself, having survived this long, but I'm not stupid. Me against 6 zombies would have given Apollo just what he wanted: me dead.

The moaning gets closer, and a stack of boxes to my right is jarred as something bumps into it, followed by a louder moan. In turn, it's answered by another moan from my left, and it's that zombie that shows itself first. A man about my size, thin, missing an arm from the shoulder and dragging one shoeless foot as he ambles towards me. I change tactics from my confrontation with Mickey, rushing this zombie before he can get closer, swinging the machete, my aim much better now that I've had practice. The blade slices into his head at an angle, taking out an eye and half his nose. I wrench it free as he begins to twitch, wondering for a moment at that - have I done some damage? He doesn't seem to be aware of me anymore - and then I strike again and he drops.

I pull the machete free, the other zombie stumbling towards me as I whirl to face it. It's faster than the other two, not hampered by weight or crippled by an injury and I take a few quick steps back to give myself some room - and feel my feet slip out from under me as I step on the same poles I'd tricked Mickey with. My breath is knocked out of me as I hit the floor but I know if I hesitate I'm dead. Dropping the machete for the moment, I grab one of the poles with both hands and thrust it upwards, my breath rushing back into my lungs as the end of the pole enters the zombies chest with a wet, sickening sound. Stuck, it reaches for me, groaning loudly. Keeping the pole in my hands, I get to my feet, and then I use it to knock the zombie off balance, letting go when it hit’s the floor. I stoop to pick up the machete and then I walk over to it, stepping around it's outstretched fingers. There's a meaty crunch as I drive my boot into it's head, once, twice, and once more for good measure.

I'm tired, and so I take just a moment to rest, but then my anger returns and I quickly cross the room to the ladder, imagining the surprise on Apollo's face when he sees me. It takes me a few minutes to get the ladder down and set up. The skylight is unlocked when I reach it, and I stick my head out slowly, looking around. The rooftop is empty, and I make note to change that as soon as I retake control of the situation. I make my way across the rooftop, crouching as I go. At the end of the roof I find a maintenance ladder that takes me down to the ground. Keeping to the shrubs near the buildings, I make my way, stopping only when I hear a familiar voices from an open window just above me - Apollo, speaking of my untimely demise at the hands of the big fella, and then Eva as she asks how it had happened, a trace of skepticism in her voice.

Apollo continues to spin his tale, and I can only hope no one is buying his bull**** story as I prepare to make my move.

    A) Get inside and barge into the room and confront Apollo immediately.

    B) Wait until Eva leaves and go to her, so you can act together; she's obviously not buying Apollo's story.

    C) Wait until Apollo leaves and confront him alone.

    Option B for me.

I would want to know where Eve stands, and she could be useful, she could lure Appolo somewhere quite and keep him distracted as you make him acquainted with your machete.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,411 ✭✭✭SUNGOD

option B for me as well
eve would be a good allie to have and seen as you dont know if apollo has many backing him you need someone you can trust to watch your back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,394 ✭✭✭DakotaYoda

    A

I'm calling bullsh*t and want to confront Apollo in front of everyone immediately. My blood is up after being locked in a room w/ Z's... it's GO TIME!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74 ✭✭Goodoak

.Ok I can only hear and not see what’s going on in there so I don't know who's armed or if there are other people.

I'm Going with option B. If I talk to eve I can find out who's with us. I don't want this happening again seems these survivors are all Chiefs and no Indians.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 356 ✭✭wavehopper1

I'm going with A. The time for subtlety and subterfuge is over, it didn't work with the Dolenz situation because Apollo was also scheming privately and managed to outmanouver me.

Barge in shouting, and lay the facts out there for everybody.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Rick Deckard

A- a show of force against apollo will make any of his followers rethink..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,826 ✭✭✭phill106

B, I am suspicious. I'm locked in a room, minutes later I escape through a conveniently unlocked skylight, and as soon as I exit I can hear but not see someone talking about me?
He could be surrounded by loyal goons waiting for me. Look before you leap people!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Korvanica

    B For me too...

Apollo could be holding a gun at the moment or anything.... it would be silly to barge in with only a machete.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,558 ✭✭✭SmileyPaul

    B

eff that guy in his butt hole with eva
he joined the raiding party to protect his new born child and wife, if all comes to all, we can get leverage with the help of eva

(I know it's not very nice but I think it'd be allowed, I wouldn't kill them or anything, just hope he puts down any weapons that him and his men have if things get REAAAAAALLLLY messy :P)

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,869 ✭✭✭Mahatma coat

    A) But with style, Eva Still has a rifle and seems to be on My side,

I'd saunter in Nonchelauntly and say something pithy like

'Rumors of my demise have been Greatly Exagerated'

all things being equal, this should put the wind up apollo and give eva a chance to train her Rifle on him.

apollo wont have any support in the room once you enter, He has openly lied about your death, what else is he lying about??????

you on the other hand have been straight with them, you have already despatched one of their leaders and survived a coup, your position in the eyes of the Mob is stronger.

Also as a sweetner if you still desire vengance you can use his infant child as Z bait

A for me aswell it makes sense and then you might actually see who is on appolo's side and who will follow you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 356 ✭✭wavehopper1

You consider barging into the room and confronting Apollo, but slowly your hot anger turns into a colder steel. You decide to wait until Eva leaves the room so that you can go to her and act together. You continue to listen, crouched outside under the window.

Apollo continues to address the room."Right, we have to move on. The most important thing is that I have a plan to get us through whatever is coming. We need food and construction supplies, and we need to go out and get them".

My plan, you think to yourself, you wonder if people will remember that you recently stood on a table and laid out a comprehensive strategy for survival.

"There are only a few more hours before dark, and we need to make use of daylight. Eva, you're going to lead out the first raiding party to the cash-and-carry over in the Ballyduff industrial park. That's you, you, you, you, and you." He must be pointing to people that he had previously classified as raiders.

There is a silence, until you hear Eva's clear voice: "Apollo, we know that in the gym there's a room with seven people who may be dead or may be zombies. Now you want those of us best equipped for fighting leave the compound without ensuring that the threat inside is over? Are you sure that there's no way that those things could get out of that room?"

You can hear the mass intake of breath from a shocked group of people, followed by angry and fearful voices crying out over each other.

    "We need protection!"
"You can't send out the fighters with those things near us!"
"No way, we've got to vote on this!"

You smile to yourself. One question and Eva has undermined Apollo's authority. Before Apollo can try to regroup, Eva continues to speak: "Before any of us leave on missions, we need to eliminate the threat in that room. There are two of us armed. Apollo and I will go to the prisoners room and kill anything that's left".

There is a murmur of agreement and thanks. You wait to hear if Apollo will disagree, but if he does, he'll surely look like a coward with a reckless plan of action. Eva has backed him into a corner nicely.

You hear a different male voice speak up: "Good plan, Eva. I'll back you up on this. Apollo, give me one of your handguns, I'll go with you".

Another male voice speaks up: "It's been a few years, but I used to compete on the pistol target shooting circuit. I'll take the other pistol. Four soldiers are better than two."

You listen intently, wishing you dared stand up and look through the window. It's vital you know who has what weapon.

"Now wait a minute", Apollo speaks angrily. Can you also detect a little fear in his voice? "I'm not handing weapons out at random. Eva and I will take care of whatever is left in the room. Eva, come with me".

His tone is imperious but he doesn't have the final word. The first man speaking again. "Okay, but I want to see what goes down. I'll tag along with an axe". You know you recognize the voice. Suddenly you realise it was one of the guards that had accompanied Dolenz when he came to fetch you to murder the now-deceased Big Fella. He'd impressed you at the time with being cool when faced with your loaded rifle pointed at him.

But you've heard enough, you need to get a message to Eva that you are still alive. As people in the classroom exit to the corridor to get outside, you race to the gym and cross the floor to the wide doors to the changing rooms. The prisoners room door is thankfully still closed, still bearing the sole word "Danger" that Dolenz had painted across it. Working feverishly, you use the tip of the machete to carve one more word underneath. Then, as you hear people entering the gym you back into one of the shower cubicles. You are betting that anybody unarmed will not enter the changing rooms, they are most likely to peer through the changing room entrance from within the main gym.

Apollo and Eva enter the changing rooms. You see that a third man, you recognize him as the Dolenz guard, he stands at the entrance axe in hand. There are others behind, many carrying a weapon - an axe or a piece of piping - all looking scared. But you are impressed with their bravery, and are in no doubt that it is inspired by Eva.

Apollo places the rifle on the ground at his feet, and draws his pistols, one in each hand. He's clearly more comfortable with his own weapons but he's not going to hand over the rifle to anyone else. He nods at Eva then at the prisoners room door. "Go open the door." Eva glances at him darkly and goes to the door. You see her pause and hear a sharp intake of breath. She sees what you've carved on the door. One word.

    Sandman

A shared moment on your mission together when a song had played on the car radio. She slowly turns, casually holding the rifle at waist height. "Apollo, you need to tell me again what happened last time you opened this door".

As Apollo focuses on Eva, you step quietly out of the cubicle and take four steps to stand behind him. You raise the machete and place the blade against the right side of his neck. "Make one move and I'll sever your carotid artery."

He freezes, pistols still pointed at the door. Eva quickly moves to your side and faces the gym entrance, but she keeps her rifle lowered rather than point it at the assembled throng. You have your back to them and you are going to have to trust Eva to maintain control. You raise your voice so that all in the gym will hear, and speak at some length about Apollo's lies and attempted murder. You then wait for the new situation to sink in to those listening. You finish up by stating that you trust Eva's judgement, and she is right about making sure there is no threat within the compound.

"Eva, please open the door and move back quickly. Apollo, you need to shoot anything that comes out in the head". Apollo nearly turns around, but you press the blade harder against his skin and draw blood. "Please, Eva" you say. She goes to the door, turns the handle and jumps back flinging it open. She moves swiftly to your side, this time rifle raised and pointing at the opened door. A long moan comes from the prisoner rooom. Everybody freezes and waits.

With a shuffling sliding sound, a shape slowly emerges within the door frame. A limping torso with one arm, its face is part missing from where you sliced down the side of his head taking an eye and an ear, but clearly not the vital part of the brain. Your heart stops for a moment. Apollo's right hand shakes violently. The thing limps forward until it is six paces from where you both stand.

"Head shot, Apollo" you hiss. He takes a deep breath, his left hand jerks and the shot rings out. He hits his mark, and the gruesome thing drops to the ground.

Without taking the blade from Apollo's neck, you look behind you at the guard with the axe. "We need your help now. Only way I know to be sure is to take off its head". He nods, steps forward and with one heavy blow he severs the head from the neck.

"We're not done yet" you say grimly. "Cover him, Eva". Eva swings her rifle at Apollo, and you lean down and pick up the second Remington. "It's too crowded in there for more than two of us, Apollo and I are going in." You put the machete under your belt and place the point of the rifle at the back of Apollo's head. "After you, Apollo old pal. I'm right behind you".

He walks in slowly, you can see the sweat dripping down the sides of his face. The light is on in the room as you left it. One body still lies in the middle of the floor with its head caved in from your heavy stamps. Out of sight now of the watching group, you tell Apollo to place both pistols on a stack of boxes at the side of the room. Once he's done so, you stick one in each of your back pockets. "Don't worry, I'm a lot more generous than you, I won't leave you weaponless". You throw the machete in front of him. "Cut through the middle of head" you direct. As he does so, you hear another moan from a corner.

"Give me a gun, for god's sake" Apollo shouts. "I'm not making that mistake again" you growl, and watch as a body comes crawling out from the shadows. This one is missing both feet. "Deal with it" you say.

Apollo reluctantly approaches the crawling zombie and takes several swipes before he cuts cleanly through its neck. For the next ten minutes you direct Apollo at the point of a rifle in a search through the room for each person who was incarcerated in here. Most seem completely dead but at your behest Apollo decapitates each one.

Finally, you order him to clean the machete thoroughly on the coat of one of the dead, and return it to you. Then you both leave the killing room. For the first time you see Apollo's face. He looks exhausted. He turns to you. "I'm going to my family now. If you want to stop me you'll have to shoot me in the back. I'd probably pull the trigger if I were in your shoes". He turns around and walks away, across the gym and out the door. People part, looking at him distrustfully. You curse. You hate him so much right now you want to shoot him. But what would that mean to those watching, trying to decide who to follow? His shoulders are slumped and his head bowed. Is he a beaten man?

Once you've wached Apollo exit, you ask the guard to go in to the prisoner room and verify for the group that every possible threat has been eliminated. The guard nods at you in an indication of trust and enters. When he emerges he goes to speak with those waiting at the entrance to the changing rooms. You hear a subdued cheer.

Eva looks straight at you and raises an eyebrow. "If Apollo is still in control, I'm walking out with this rifle and ammo and you're welcome to tag along. If you take control, I'll stick it out here with the crazies".

You have a Remington, one box of ammo, a machete under your belt and two pistols in your back pockets.

    Do you
    A. Walk out of the school with Eva and use the two hours left of daylight to find shelter elsewehere.

    B. Stay put for now, with Eva as your main ally. Follow Apollo's example and keep the rifles and pistols under your control. Go and address the group assembled in the gym and make the speech of your life to try to convince them to give their allegiance to you.

    C. Stay put for now. Pull others into your immediate circle of allies by handing one pistol to the guard who first volunteered to back Eva and the second pistol to the man with competition shooting experience who also volunteered to assist. Flanked by Eva and these two, you will go and address the group assembled in the gym and make the speech of your life to try to convince them to give their allegiance to you.

Great writing, I'll go for C.
Need a few more leadership people, and they seem to have the stones and skills to do it.

    B) Keep the Weapons, Make the speech.

I thought there were more weapons, we need another inventory

    Edit
    2 old flint-lock replicas, 1 old World War 1 era rusty rifle, and 1 Winchester Lever-action 30/30
you open the box, it contains your missing Remington and the 2 remaining boxes of ammo, you put one of the boxes in the pocket of your coat and hand the other rifle and box of ammo to Eva.
you rummage a bit more, there is a box of 30/30 ammo which is almost full, there are 5 boxes of 9mm ammo but mo sign of any more pistols, there is also a Pump action shotgun and 4 Different colured boxes of cartridges, you rummage a bit more and find 48 rounds for the .303
    And you've also got Apollo's 2 Pistols

Beautifully Written Too BTW, But hey can you Re edit it to Schlock it up a Bit, y'know add in a few typo's and some Glaringly bad metaphors, also throw in a bit of Sloppy hack paragraphs, Cant be raisin the Bar that high, I have to write again sometime :D:D:D:D:D

C- spread the control. with the 4 of ye in charge, a raiding party could be out while another imporoves defences and another searches the compound for useful supplies

    C for me.

Appolo is neutralized, for a while at least.

It is important to get a few more useful people on side. It would be way too risky to leave with only two hours of daylight left.

Make the speech, send out some raiding parties to get some supplies. Organize a defensive plan for the night and tomorrow I would seriously consider moving on to a less crazy safe house with a few trustworthy people.

C - time for team building. Things are sorting themselves out so its time to provide some clear and dependable leadership. Plus - this lot has proven themselves to be a bit braver than I had given them credit for.

    Fine post wavehopper. Great style...
