Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Another live webcam which is up and running.

ETA: They appear to be two guys in a car!!!

They just moved for a better view, dodging part of the roof of the building they are beside and should be back up and running in ten minutes. Mad men! :(

Here's a different which is running at the moment.

Not true confirmed on local radio... the building next door to the Evacuation center blew off... not the center itself...

ABC says Cat 2, early morning is showing Tully destroyed.

Fantastic story of an old folk shelter evacuated ** at height of storm **, despite it being a designated shelter, to the Red Cross shelter, a purpose built shelter, dawn shows the old folks home destroyed.

Ron Darlington, photographer reporting all buildings in Mission Beach damaged.

He has no video as it was blown away, it was waterproof so he might find it ~ that's a lighter side.

Great footage on the Sunrise breakfast show here. Weatherman Grant Denyer is broadcasting live via Skype and an iPhone and showing the destruction.

Banana plantations gone completely and homes destroyed around the Tully area, but it could have been worse.

Preliminary survey in Tully reports 90% of buildings damaged. (reported on ABC breakfast news).

Might be worth removing the post then as frivolous.

not getting very good updates here, are the people safe, and how is the storm blowing right now it is 11.20pm in ireland

All mobile phones and most Internet connections are expected to be down for days so I'm not sure how fast news will travel out of the place.

Cat 2, info from ABC News. All other feeds down. No reports of fatalities, no serious injuries, no impact on any evacuation centre.

Otherwise massive devastation, but storm surge has been lower than expected. A second storm surge imminent.

I was just talking to my sister in Mission Beach, they are all fine no deaths or serious injuries. She said people are walking around like zombies looking at the damage Yasi did, she described it as Armageddon. They had a small storm surge but it didn't flood their house. So fingers crossed the river doesn't rise too much in the coming days. The army are on their way with supplies and sandbags, at last an end to a very worrying 24 hours.
