Hi, just wanted to ask advice! and see what people are looking for!
My friend is starting Obidence and Agilty training classes in drogheda soon. She has all her qualifications and has competed in obidence, agility and in the show ring so she has plenty of experience with handling and training for all breeds.
The classes will be held in a indoor sand arena with a full agility course (all to spec).
She is a wee bit nervous about it because she feels that maybe people wont want this type of training and she is trying to think of ways to incourage "non sterotypical agility" breed owners to have a go.
Just wanted to see what other people think about this and any suggestions would be great:D

Sounds great, fair play to her!

I would be interested in the agility for one of my dogs, just for fun, I wouldn't be interested in shows or competitions.

She should have an open day with free trials of the classes.

Puppy socialisation classes would be a good idea too and doggy daycare!

She is hoping to get more people in for fun then competing, although she does want to have some fun shows:)
Shes very excited about it, and she has said she would love to do some type of doggie day care, but she works 6 days a wk as a groomer! so she is hoping to do these classes in the evenings.
But the socialization classes are a great idea!!
I seen the designs of the wee course and it looks great, she's origionally from sweden so there all blue and yellow:P
Any other idea's, suggestions or comments greatly appreciated:D

Best of luck to your friend.

The open day sounds like a good idea.

I'm near Drogheda and would love some sort of socialisation class for my dog, she's really nervous around other dogs (think she might have had a bad experience in kennels) and would love her to come out of her shell a bit.

Funny enough she's not nervous around larger animals such as cattle and horses, just other dogs!

Hi all! thanks for all the come back!
I was talking to my friend today and she thinks socialization classes are a great idea!
She is thinking about having two agility classes to start with, one for small dogs and one for big dogs.
Were she will be holding the classes is actually an equestrian centre who have given her use of a small indoor 20m x 25m and the use of grass arena's in the summer.
The yard is just outside of drogheda, close to dunleer.
She also hopes to do fun orienteering trails as she has use of their land too with forrests and stuff.
She just wants to encourage people to have fun when training and help people understand their dogs.

    Hey,

did your friend decide to go ahead with the classes? just got a little terrier collie cross and he's gonna be a cracking agility dog, just need to work a bit on our attention span as its quite limited!

on a completely separate note, do you guys still have spaces for livery at the moment? bit of a disaster with my mare so i'm not sure if you'll still want her! she has a stress fracture in the small pastern bone of her off side hind so has been on box rest for 6 weeks. x-rays this week so we will see if its done any good, then maybe look at moving her in the next couple of weeks, but either way it looks like its gonna be more box rest so she's a bit mad at the moment!

    Hi
This sounds like a brilliant idea. I have been attending agility classes for over a year and it's great fun and exercise for both myself and my dog. :D

Perhaps your friend might consider a combined obedience/agility class for beginners. Maybe doing obedience and socialisation for the first half of the class and agility training for the remainder. It's much easier to perform agility with a dog that has basic obedience and is comfortable around the other dogs in the class.

Best of luck to your friend it sounds like she is very well qualified and has excellent training facilities.

@ Emily, yeah we have space:) We have a new mare with a hair line fracture to her hip on 6 wks box rest at the min too! so she wud have company! My friend is just waiting on the Agility Equipment to arrive and we should be flying!
@Bcollie, that sounds clever! I will definitly suggest it to her! We are dead excited:) cant wait to start it:)
Thanks for all the suggestions they are much appreciated!

brilliant! will keep you posted on what the vet says so when we'll be able to move her, and see if he has any advice on how we're going to box and travel the mad thing as she's busy bucking round the stable at the moment! stress fracture can't be causing her any pain anyway!

    Hello There,

i am interested in the dog training. Ive got a female boxer called ( lille ) and would be interested in learning a few things on training her. the main thing is playing with other dog. she is very playful but she is a bit too playful and this sometimes worries other owners and in turn they put there dog on their leash and walk off

Hi, I was just wondering has your friend started the training. Is it just agility or is she doing obedience classes? Thanks
