Ta, thing is, just on or two hits of his hammer and im dead. Can i level up just by grinding? ie, just fighting all enemies to build up mu level?

After your R1 plunge attack , dont lock onto him and run around to his back. Lock on and attack his fat ass. When he starts attacking keep shafting to the side to avoid being within reach. Always stay behind. If he flys just run away until he lands and get behind him again. Hes easy once you get the know how. Its like all the other demons in the game. Level up in undead burg, if you get to lvl 15 you'll survive handy enough and always block

I did;t see the ladder beside the entrance which leads up to the two annoying archers.

Ladder? Now that would indeed be a help. Are we both talking about the same place, the large room where you go through the white mist/wall to drop down on the boss?

    Where exactly are the ladders?

    Thanks.

As you enter its on your right, 2 archers above you

Edit: thats for the taurus demon, im guessing your on the Asylum demon after going up the stairs and through the white gate. No ladders there only pillars

Are you fighting the Asylum Demon on your 1st attempt Caoimhín? As in, do you still have your broken sword and no other equipment? If so, you're not really supposed to fight him. You can't do any damage to him with that weapon. Run past him to the left and go through the gate.

If it is the 2nd time, when you have your equipment, the drop down ontop of the boss takes about 50% of his health. You drop down from much further in the level.

Yeah Im on my second go, where I drop down on top of him. The only equipment i have is the Broken Straight Sword, Straight Sword Hilt, Tower Kite Shield and Short Bow (which I cant use yet because of my low stats) and the standard Knights gear.

And can anyone help me out i gave rear embers to blacksmith just out of the forest and the sorcerer blacksmith from vieham and either are producing divine weapons, magic weapons or anything , also ive goten special titante rocks from demons that are suppose to craft standard weapons plus 15 and neither blacksmith wont do it .

Also while i was in catacombs a strange message came up saying disasters are gone after the death of gravelord servent , does anyone know what this means , i am with the gravelord convenant but i didnt die when this came up and it puzzles me

Restarted the game to get the Master Key (was only about 4-5 hours in anyway) and I chose thief this time, but I can't seem to get a backstab at all. Any tips?

Go behind an enemy, make sure your shield is lowered and use a light attack.

You should have a broadsword. Where you picked up your shield to get past the first archer, at the top of that path you should have picked up your sword. You can get back there really easy, instead of heading up the stairs where the ball had rolled down head the other way and down the stairs there.

One thing is bugging me, Im playing a dex kind of character using duel scimitars or against heavily armoured foes a shield/dagger and Balder side sword combo. All the weapons I use including Bows have a dex scaling above B so I do tasty damage once I get close and can combo some hits.

The problem is if I upgrade a weapon to divine/magic etc the dex scaling drops to E/D and I do patethic damage :( what do you guys do to counter this?
Should I just keep upgrading the divine/magic weapons untill the damage starts to improve?
Am I missing something, perhaps a later blacksmith can improve the dex ratings?

I apologise if I made no sense or spelling mistakes ect, I have a load of green titanite and was going to make a divine Falcion to hurt the skellies in the graveyard but the damage looks terrible.

The "magic" blacksmith does upgrades that drop STR and DEX scaling in favor INT scaling on weapons or just raw magic damage. If you want to keep your DEX scaling your better off just upgrade your weapon to +15. I think Divine gives a modifier increase to FAI and reduces others so if you have low faith your gonna be losing damage obviously. Only off set of that is that those skellys will stay down. Maybe damage them with your go to weapons then switch to the divine to finish them off?

But ofcourse there are always Lightning weapons which outclass every other upgrade in the game, even if you have high DEX and a high DEX scaling weapon, 9 times out of 10 the Lightning weapon will do more damage. You need extreme amounts of DEX and a nice modifier on the weapon to compete with the Lightning enchant.

Rumour has it that they are working on a patch and are gonna address somethings such as framerate problems, pvp imbalance and "Regular weapons rebalanced against reinforced weapons" Im hoping that means that Lightning wont be the end all of end game damage, and that if you specialise in FAI, INT, STR, or DEX that weapons with such modifiers will be your weapons of choice instead of every build resorting to Lightning or Fire

No Sharp/Tearing/Quality upgrade path really hurts DEX players in Dark Souls :(

The magic/enchanted path doesn't improve it's scaling with DEX as you upgrade (I'm gathering divine weapons don't either). You could go for a hybrid build and upgrade your INT/FAI?

Or maybe one of the unique weapons will have the scaling/effects you need?

If you are going for pure dex and making it your main stat, it makes more sense to level up your A or B scale weapon to +15. Don't change it to lightning, divine etc. With +15 weapons and 60 or 70 dex you will be hitting pretty hard. Make sure you have enough ENDurance to block though.

    Thanks guys :)

Im still early days so I can change up my approach if I have to. Avoided the drake sword and trying to avoid the dark side (lightning) as I progress ;)

A faith/Dex build could be kinda cool, or the idea of switching to a divine for the final blow could work, especially as Ive been duel weilding so much.

Thanks for the ideas again. :D Now I just need to stop playing my second game I started for fun and get back to my wanderer lol

Ok so a final conclusive follow up to the strength problem.

I'm currently soul level 105, my strength is 53 and I continued on with my build to test results as I thought with the best STR scaling weapons in the game and an extremely high stat I can surely outdamage the lightning weapons.

In NG+ currently and have stopped progress to work on weapon upgrades etc. So I farmed upgrade mats, got the very large ember from New Londo and upgraded the three best and strongest strength scaling weapons in the game.

Demon Great Machete, the Demon Greataxe and the Demon Great Hammer. All 3 require 50 STR to use.

The axe scales A with strength which is the highest the other 2 scale B. With 53 strength and the weapon at +15 it does indeed outdamage my Lightning Claymore..... by 6 damage!! Not only that but because most enemies have very weak lightning resists the Claymore still does more damage to most mobs. It's a fraction of the weight and swings much faster.

So there you have it, strength is much much worse than I initially thought. From needs to fix this but I have my doubts they will considering the guide would be redundant if they do change it.

    FML :(

Alot of people are expecting the "Regular weapons rebalanced against reinforced weapons" bit to be a nerf to elemental DMG, or a buff for stat scaling. Let us pray. Umbasa!

Didn't see that if it's official then we can only hope, it would make sense that they can buff the damage from scaling!!

I'd be happy with them nerfing lightning damage but me wants more deeps dammit!! :D

It was the same in demons souls, its the reason everyone you saw invade had a dragon halberd+5 in the first playthrough. It was the reason i always went for a moon weapon even though my dex was twice my magic stat.

Your +15s have one huge advantage over the lightning\magic\divine weapons, they can be buffed via charcoal\that lightning powder and damage output can be dramatically increased with magic weapon. It was the reason there was a differene in DS. nothing worse than bumping into a guy with the dragon bone smasher with cursed weapon on it.

So anyways finished anor Londo last night, 2 phantoms made sh1t of the bosses. Went up to the lady Gwynevere room, saw the sign "Fantastic Chest ahead" before i headed in and spent 5 minutes running around the room until i finally copped on and got out the binoculaurs to check out the fantasitc chest.

Then wouldn't an increase in the duration/strength of those buffs be enough to offset the Lightning weapons? Would save messing with the weapon scaling/output to much and be a much cleaner fix.

Someone get the devs on the phone!

They should blow it away(if they're liked demons souls), in Demons cursed weapon added 30-40% more damage to your weapon, light weapon depended on your magic stat but could surpass the cursed weapon addition. no details on the wiki as to the difference between magic weapon and great magic weapon, but i imagine 20% extra damage minimum. You should be able to cast it and check the weapon damage in the inventory screen.

duration i think is about 60s which was the same in DS Most guys only levelled up intelligence enough to get the slots and enough mp for 1 maybe 2 castings. If a minute had gone by and you were using the dragon bone smasher chances are you were dead.

So I've finally made it to the depths and rescued that Pyromancer dude who then taught me how to do it once i returned to Firelink Shrine. However, once I have it equipped, i can't seem to use it. I'm a level 25 Warrior.

Have I just wasted 500 souls?

Also I've given the Blacksmith in the Undead Parish two embers. What can he do with them and how exactly do I ascend weapons?

Do you have an attunment slot? You need to be able to equip a spell, and use the glove for Pyromancy (iirc).

The different embers allow you to upgrade weapons to different states. There are embers for loads of different upgrades, so check out the wiki for the full list.

Hello, I was in the Undead Parish and about to die and ended up going down a lift which brought me back to the Firelink Shrine. I rested there to get my health back and turned off the game.

I'm just wondering what'll happen if I go back up that lift and then die in the Undead Parish. Will I respawn in the Firelink Shrine with the lift not available anymore? Or would the lift be back down again? Maybe I should go up and run down to the bonfire at the start of the Undead Parish? I don't want to have to go through the first section again.

That lift is available all the time now. It's a shortcut back into the Parish. There's 2 lifts, so you can use it from Firelink or the Parish.

Brilliant. It'll be great having 10 flasks again. I'll need them judging by the big brute that I met in the Undead Parish.

Well that link confused me more. Can you only ascend certain weapons? I've got my Zweihander up to+4 so it's nice and powerful. As for that slot, I've no idea!

I just tried to attune magic at a bonfire and it told me I had insufficient slots, so I guess not. How do I get one?

God I love this game, I only just realized that you can hold 2 weapons.
