No it was the "I didnt bother my arse learning Irish. I think I'll teach geography" approach to teaching.

hi i must teach a class on monday on irish counties but i cant find a map online with all the counties in irish anyone know where i could find it online

    Bring them in this map.

    http://www.lonelyplanet.com/maps/pacific/australia/map_of_australia.jpg

Make them aware that there is a distinct possibility that they may end up here when they leave school as our economy will still be screwed when they do. You could bring in a map of the U.K, Canada or the U.S. That'll work just as well.

Gently remind them that they won't need any irish and the language they are speaking now will do them fine.

    Will give it a go.
Easiest by province, will prob struggle with Leinster

Ulster - easy being an Ulsterman
    Donegal
    Cavan
    Monaghan
    Derry
    Antrim
    Down
    Armagh
    Fermanagh
    Tyrone

    Connacht
    Sligo
    Roscommon
    Mayo
    Galway
    Longford

    Munster
    Cork
    Kerry
    Tipperary
    Limerick
    Clare
    Waterford

    Leinster
    Leitrim
    Meath
    Westmeath
    Wexford
    Offaly
    Louth
    Dublin
    Wicklow
    Kilkenny
    Waterford
    Laois
    Carlow

    Not 100% on leitrim/longford

    Yeah. Here we go again.

I can safely say, without a shadow of a doubt that I will never speak that language.

    "Tí Eoghan" means "Owen's House".

It is "Tír Eoghan", meaning "Owen's Land".

    oops typo.

    Hello Con.
May I suggest. 'The Anglicized Words of Irish Placenames" by Tom Burnell, Nonsuch publishing.
It covers everything you need to know.
    Cheers.
