You just about turned your hard drive into a paperweight as far as real consoles are concerned.

Formatting a 360 hard drive should only ever be done through the console, there's an option for it in the Memory section of settings. The transfer cable is only meant to be a transfer cable, it's not designed for you to mess about with the hard drive even though apps like Xplorer360 exist.

There are several problems that could have arisen:

    1) You formatted on a PC and thus cannot choose the Filesystem to format to that's compatible with a 360. The 360 uses FATX, you can only format to FATX on a 360. Stick the hard drive into the top slot of a JTAG and format it via the dashboard.

    2) You've wrecked the Security Sector, which JTAGs don't care about, but real consoles do. The only way back from this is HDDHackr and an HDDSS.bin file from another drive the same size as your one. Unfortunately it only works with Western Digital Drives and probably won't work if your drive is an original hard drive (MS drives always are, or at least were, Fujitsu drives).
