Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just got my first bike. An unrestricted 03 Bandit 600s. Was on english plates so i got it VTR'd for 280euro.

Contacted Insurance companies and only one who'll insure me without a stupid quote is Quinn but they want it restricted first. So can't get insured til i get it restricted, went to get it taxed and told needs to be insured before i can tax it .

Where do i go from here - can't tax without insurance, can't insure without restriction, can't restrict coz can't ride on the road .

First thing to do is find someone who can restrict the bike for you, and issue you with a restriction cert.

Then, ask them if they can transport the bike to and from your residence.
A lot of mechanics have vans that they use to tranport bikes.

When you have that sorted, you will be able to insure the bike, and from there the rest will be easy.

As said above, get the bike restricted.

But just so ya know, it gets better on insirance pretty fast.
I drive a restricted bandit myself. My first year was with quinn for about 900 and my second year i switched to adelaide and got insured for 550.

Twas a nice drop in price!

find a friend with a van and load your bike into it, give this guy a call www.poleonmotorcycles.com and ask if he has any kits for the bandit 600, he did my bike it cost less then half the going rate for restrictions (which is €250) because he had a second hand kit sitting around, his name is Anto (or chopper).
i sent my cert over to Quinn and they immediately accepted it and was fully insured on my cb400sf.

If that doesn't pan out then loads of garages do "FI kits" for €250

It's a pain is the backside that all most restriction kits are just a few metal washers or a bit of metal to block you pulling the trottle but it's only 2 years.

Only 2 years from the day you apply for your full license, after passing your test ;)

Tis true, some idiot in the council is responsible for me having an extra fortnight of restriction.

Chopper is great for this , he is a bit of a distance but im sure it is worth the extra cost of gettin it to him than paying 250 for an FI set and someone to fit them .

give an a shout , you wont go wrong ...
