I would say not having a job makes you more likely to be following these things
We don't need qualifications in economics to figure out how important IDA Jobs are.

Scroll up Ciarán, the thread is about election posters, an interesting topic if everyone would stick to that subject.

I contacted M Martin on a few occasions around 5 years ago (because I foresaw this jobs crisis hitting the area - this is where someone who is working as an economist has an advantage over others) when he was minister for trade and enterprise expressing my concern about the lack of jobs Limerick was getting. He failed to reply to me on every occasion, so I find it a bit ironic now that he's all over my area looking for votes. That was my initial point.
However, I will no longer post here or anywhere else about this jobs issue again, nor will I contact the IDA or any other body if it is causing you such offence.

Says it all about Fianna Failure and their apologists.

I've noticed that some of the posters for the Socialist party candidate seems to have a problem with the glue used. It's leaving a trail down along the poster from the holes created for the cable ties.

At this stage posters are everywhere, a total disgrace. Fines should be brought in.

Make a personal remark about another poster in this thread again and I will ban you. Only warning.

Election posters must be illegal on motorway overpasses, they can block visibility if it came loose resulting in a potential accident.

Also if you see someone putting posters on the motorway tied to signs or polls report them as vehicles are not allowed to park on motorways in case of an emergency.

Scroll up Liam the thread is about election posters not IDA Jobs,

you are perfectly entitled to post about IDA jobs in a relevant thread

    I Agree

I see that all the dangerous posters at the Newport roundabout have been taken/blown down. One candidate however has taken advantage of this and put up a double sized one of themselves instead.

Less of the condescension please, lad. Election posters are put up in the run-up to a general election, something which falls under the topic of politics. A thread solely about posters and their aesthetics would probably only appeal to those who make them, or who have a strange affinity for what is, essentially, political graffiti. Political discussion is to be expected here. If it displeases you so, go post somewhere else.

Oh, and it's Ciaran, not Ciarán. ;)

The only problem about that is you have taken issue about IDA jobs on other threads too disputing figures etc.

But you can't dispute less than 1% of IDA jobs for all Limerick in 2010.

FF have failed you and the county. Don't be afraid to put your county ahead of your party. I'm very impressed by a lot of people on these threads how aware they are.

As for election posters, the less I see of them the better, particularly FF ones.

Yes I have, and I have proven with evidence, that many of your claims in those threads were incorrect.

Show me where I disputed this please ?

I have agreed with you multiple times that not enough IDA jobs have been created in Limerick

    agreed

So peter power, despite numerous reassurances, did not remove his posters from the motorway. Most of the posters were removed by county council, however, they missed one flyover near the rosbrien interchange, on which power still has 3 posters on each side..

Good, we are agreed then on most things. My claims can't be any more damning than 'less than 1%', but lets not split hairs as they say.

As for these posters, someone told me they cost €4 each, and i'd question whether they make the slightest difference, a complete waste of money imo.

Not condescension, just stating the obvious, "lad"

Again the tread started by the OP, was about illegally placed posters, a worthy topic imo. The usual suspects have dragged it away from that topic to one thats already being discussed on other threads. This post is the last I'm going to say on this issue.

I'm just waiting for someone to turn the 'Valentines restaurants in Limerick' thread in to yet another FF mud slinging fest

Out of genuine interest, how do you pronounce Ciaran ?

It annoys me that the fianna Fail candidate lied about removing the posters, and they are STILL there.

They are not the only lies told in this election i suspect.
Did he tell you personally that they'd be removed?

I live in Ballinacurra and can quickly run out and take them down myself if you want :P (Not actually joking I can do it at the weekend)

It was condescension, no need to explain the purpose of a thread entitled 'election posters', I would've thought.

Can't waaaaait to see that bit in bold. :pac:

    Key-ran.

Just driving down the Dublin Road and there are posters up for "Mr. Price". What's that about? Is it a gimmick?

Looked it up on Facebook and it seems to be some kind of advertising. For what, I can't make out.

Mr Price is the name of a shop at roxboro shopping centre.

its illegal to put the posters up like that, and if reoprted, they are liable to a €150 fine per poster, as it is littering.

I'm intrigued to know where most of the posters were actually produced- the other morning I half-fell back to sleep with the radio on and there was a mention of one party out-sourcing the work to Eastern Europe, so much for keeping Irish jobs! Just wish I woke up properly to hear the whole story
Reminds me of when I worked on the Bordera couple of years ago- a leaflet was circulated by a Councillor regarding the devastating impact of shopping in the North and urging people to shop local in order to save local jobs. Where was the leaflet printed? Newry

Says it all about Fianna Failure and their apologists.

Fianna Fáil supremacist you mean. Fianna Fáilers never apologise for anything. (Unless of course in a speech of Oscar-winning acting proportions when they pretend they weren't in cabinet for the last few years.)

Back on topic, even though posters make it seem like the politicians and party are treating the election as no more than a trumped up beauty contest, I guess candidates have no choice because if they don't put the posters up their rival would. It would be an interesting experiment if one local authority banned the use of political posters in their constituency and to see what effect if any it had on the parties' performances comparable to those who constituencies where posters are the norm.

Denis Riordan, the LIT-based one man Constitutional Campaigner, gets my Number 1 anyway, haven't seen a single poster from him, no Christian Solidarity Party loudspeaker announcements either.
