5-3-2 lads apparently with Kuyt and Meireiles up front!

I did say I though the formation would be interesting tonight, well, that is interesting to say the least.

lads where's Joe Cole? Seems odd that he doesn't even make the matchday squad.

LOL at Twitter, Kyriakos up front? To get everybody sued to the sight of Carroll.

That's a weird selection, hard to make sense of it. Too many defensive players starting for a home game I think anyway.

Hope I'm wrong but this could be a 0-0.

I hope liverpool win, they have been playing some good football under kenny but i wont be betting on it because i don't see where the goals will come from.

    is Kyriakos actually up front?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,311 ✭✭✭✭K-9

Some guy on Twitter suggesting a 3-3-3-1 :confused::confused::confused::confused:

Not a bad bench though, Gulacsi, Suarez, Maxi, Carragher, NGog, Poulsen and Shelvey.

With Carroll to get fit and Cole not on the bench for some reason.

Do we ever keep a clean sheet when the Greek is playing ?
Plus relying on Kuyt for a goal is not ideal
    Hope Suarez is fit !!!

Formation something of a 3-4-3 with Raul and Steve off Dirk Diggler.

    Encouraging start, Gerrard in particular.

Seems to be playing Gerrard and Meireiles as AM's with Lucas and Aurelio as cover for the back 3, makes sense against Stoke.

Looking at it, it looks like a
    3-4-2-1

With Gerrard and Meireles playing off Kuyt and Lucas and Aurelio sitting.

Yep, defo to suit the two new boys me thinks.

Even though they both won't be playign tonight, I'm sure this could be a formation of ours from now on.

Probably not away to Chelsea mind you.

    But for future home games:

    Reina
    Kelly----Carra----Agger
    Johnson----Lucas--Meireles
    Aurelio
    Gerrard
    Suarez
    Carroll

Is johnson left back/wing back or right midfield?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,311 ✭✭✭✭K-9

Poulsen isn't on the bench, injured, Wilson instead. No Cole though that maybe because Suarez and Shelvey are.

Would I be correct in saying that Kenny has yet to at least start with 2 up front? Lots of defensive players in that starting 11, taught we'd have gone for it a lot more

    Nice pass Gerrard.

no, we didnt start with two up front against everton for sure, and i'm pretty sure we havent in any other game.

i think thats what youre saying anyway, you could be a hell of a lot clearer...

Stoke are so deep, Soto is still in the box :pac:

    He may not rate Ngog.

But it seems clear our midfielders have been given instructions to get forward a lot more under Kenny than they did during the whole of 2010.

yeah, saying that we've yet to start with 2 strikers, very strange, ngog not getting a look in under kenny either

Kuyt and Gerrard very good so far. Krygiakos double-jobbing as centre back and centre forward at times.

Lucas having a very good game so far, sitting deep and spraying the ball all over the place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,385 ✭✭✭✭D'Agger

Aurelio seems to be getting forwards then staying up there applying pressure when we lose it - would prefer if Aquilani was playing that role instead of him though, he'd add a bit more guile imo
