JSB - travelling for a month

I'm currently on job seekers benefit the past 4 months as work has me cut down to 1 day a week.

I've the chance to go to the states in march for a month/6 weeks to stay with a mate on a holiday.

My question is, even though my boss said that he will keep paying me for the 1 day a week that I'm currently working for the 4/6 weeks im away - am I still entitled to get the Job seekers benefit for the rest which amounts to around €150 p/w?

It may be a noob question, but its my first time getting anything off the state so I don't know exactly what can be done.

Of course you're not.

You're not genuinely available for work while you are on holiday.

However, you may take 2 weeks "holidays" from jobseeking.

If you are getting paid holiday pay from your employer, you mark these days on your casual dockets as H. However, you need to tell them you are going abroad for this period. They will probably keep your claim open, but you are only entitled to 12 days holidays for the year. Anything more than that you won't be paid for.
