I think the quota is about 9200 if I remember right. Doherty's surplus will probably go to Pringle. We will see.

If we assume they're all valid, quota is 8540.
doherty would then have 5000+ surplus to transfer!

If these are right, we might end up stuck with Mary Coughlan again.:mad:

    Surprised Ryan out polled Harte.

Hopefully Harte will transfer better than him and NcConnalogue.

It looks likely that Mary C will loose her seat which from watching the RTE coverage would appear to be a shock. May be a shock to the rest of the country but not to anyone in her constituency.

RTE reporting third seat in DNE impossible to call, even by the tallymen, between Harte, Ryan and McConnalogue.

You've about 6,000 Independent votes to transfer.

From RTE, FG are saying to watch for McCahill's transfers. Could be the clincher.

EDIT........Wow..got my maths all wrong, ignore, quota is around 10630

I hope so! If we do end up with another FF TD, I'd prefer O'Domhnaill any day.

    My prediction based on tallies

    first prefs
    Pringle 5800
    Coughlan 4900
    BOD 4700

    After surpluses and lower transfers
    Pringle 8100
    BOD 6500
    Coughlan 6200

Coughlan to distrubute hers....all hell to break loose

Very little news on Donegal NE.

    That's even harder to call.

Not much between Harte and Ryan and 6,000 Independent votes to transfer.

Ryan has to make up 2,000 votes on McConnalogue, Harte 2,500 odd.

Whoever of Harte or Ryan who gets eliminated first will decide it.

We could well have no FF TD's in Donegal come Monday!

Twitter is back but nothing new.

I think the tallymen can't call the third seat in both constituencies. It's going to be a long night.

Just seen a tweet saying it's between BOD and Pringle for the last seat, not sure how reliable that is.

RTE saying count from NE about 5 with indications after.

Highland Radio » Tense battles for the last seat in both Donegal constituencies
In Donegal South West, Independent Cllr Thomas Pringle’s Director of Elections is predicting that Tanaiste Mary Coughlan’s seat is gone, and the last seat is a battle between FF Senator Brian O’Domhnaill and Cllr Pringle for the last seat. It’s widely though in the count centre in Donegal Town that Pringle is in the driver’s seat to take it.

FF’s Director of Elections in the constituency Cllr Brendan Byrne says the party made a mistake runing with a two candidate strategy. He believes a single candidate would have guaranteed a seat, but he’s by no means conceding defeat……

Meanwhile, in Donegal North East, Labour Cllr Jimmy Harte is battling Fianna Fail Cllr Charlie Mc Conalogue for the final seat, with Mc Conalogue said to be favourite to take it. However, Fine Gael say their second candidate Cllr John Ryan is not out of the running yet.

Labour’s Director of Elections Brian Gribben says the party ran a good campaign, a nd he’s not conceding defeat……….
