Hi Pajero, my name is Donna and I work for DoneDeal.ie. Our new search engine is specifically designed to stop search words appearing in ads, as the search will no longer be populated from words in the text of the ad and therefore, adding these words will be useless to the people that choose to do this.

We have also updated our terms and conditions to clearly state that this is not acceptable on our site. We are manually removing these words from ads on our site, contacting the sellers that do it and informing them that any further use of search words may lead to their ad being removed from our site.

Our new search will be completed for the car section in the next few weeks and will then be filtered out throughout the entire Motor section and this will make any future use of search words irrelevant to the search lists and sections.

We know the use of these words are extremely irritating and completely ruin any search lists of items you are looking for, and it is for this reason that we are working, and will very soon and stopped this behaviour on our site.

I hope this explains the steps we are taking and I myself can not wait to have the search up and running and no more search words to annoy me or you

Thanks to this idiot donedeal is pretty much useless today, As he has listed out most cars/phrases so there is no point trying to find a car, he has uploaded allot of ads today this way

This is probably the best search engine I know. You can fill in as many or as few of the fields that you want. It gives you a constant update as to how many results you have and its fast as well.

Thanks for the headsup on this guy, we've removed the text from all his ads and contacted him informing that any future use of search words will lead to his ads being removed without refund.

Our new criteria are in place in the place ad part of our site, that means we will be searching from only this criteria in the next week or 2 and this will stop search words effecting search results in specific sections.

Why do people put up ads if they are only half arsed about selling their cars? Makes no sense with the likes of reluctant to sell etc

Donna, as a tip.
Set up a script that will spider the site every two hours or so.
Make it compare each page against a list of buzz words (car models etc) and if an advert has more than 2/3 buzz words it's flagged for human check.
This way you can quickly remove crap.

Alternatively you can make the adverts pre-moderated so that a person will read it before it is published.

They definitely are.
I reported several when searching (one of them was for a fish tank with all car related terms, evo dc5 ek9 golf etc) and it was done in a few hours
