Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why so many guests?

Currently there are 131 users and 226 guests on afterhours. I presume guests are people who have never set up a user name (smart man Brian).

Why would so many people browse Boards and never set up a user name. I would have guessed that 90% of users of this site are returning people so i wonder why you would be a regular user and not sign up.

Perhaps they have nothing to say?

I've been a long time browser, directed here years ago from another forum where we were discussing something and someone linked to a Boards.ie discussion.

I just joined today actually as I finally had something to ask :)

I tend to only log in if I'm going to post something, I would have thought most were the same.

I'd say most of it is traffic from Google searches etc.

its the same on most forums, people usually lurk for a while before posting, and internet search results lead people to threads

Judging by the numbers you quote, they are probably Pianist John O'Connors guests.

I stay logged in all the time, never log out.

Sometimes when I log in I forget to click the "keep me logged in" button and when I go to another page it logs me out. Most of the time I just stay logged out until I want to post something. Unless the ads start to get really annoying.

    sometimes I log in here..

then do really important real life stuff..

    making tea and such..

    then I forget I'm here..

but I'm not really here because it's logged me off so I become a guest..

until I want to post something..

then I'm no longer a guest..

    :)

The Invisibles aren't counted as guests. They're with the member count.

Because a lot of people are looking for something on google and are simply 'bounce' numbers for the site. Of course a lot of people don't want an account or cba logging into theirs.
