€125k for a roomy 3 bedroom house with surrounding gardens in close proximity to Dublin?

I'd happily take that, murder or no murder.

There must be lots of homes where awful stuff went on in the past, but like another poster said, the house didn't do it.

haha, all the 'tough' people on the internet again. go on, buy joeys' house and live in it.:)

and to the above, from my point of view it's a difference having own diffuse imaginations what could have happened in a house than to to know in detail what really happened. And you can know in detail what happened, I just read it up on the internet.

another thing for all the people who would have no worries to move into good ol' joeys' house:
he's still alive and someday he might be out of prison. who knows, something might be flipping in his head again, he wants his house back, imagines you'll never paid or sth. and he's standing in front of your bed in the middle of the night with his tumbbell (apparently that thing was never found...!!!) beating the sh** out of you.

but yeah, no worries at all to live in it....:)

What if you had weirdos driving by and scoping the place out because of what happened there? Seemingly the residents of Kerrymount Close have noticed a lot of people doing this.

just coming to my mind, it's strange that the house (o'reillys') wasn't vandalised in all this time, or did somebody live in it until now? strange.

A fair number of mental asylums were converted into old folks homes in the UK and many of the residents who were unable to live independently any more remembered only too well the history of the places and felt ashamed to be there.

The ladies family are hoping whoever buys the house will demolish it and rebuild, and her mother hopes the buyer will bless the place as soon as they buy it too.

I rented a house an old woman was (violently) murdered in. Her blood was still on the carpet and wallpaper. I asked the landlord to redecorate. He gave me €700 to do it... I put it in my pocket and wore shoes on the 'bad patch' of carpet.

A practical person wouldn't (didn't) care. Loads of people have probably died in your bedroom, maybe even a good few births.

    #thatslife

    Okay even I'd fooking redecorate!

I have to say I genuinely dont see the problem with buying that house.
What happened in it was undeniably a terrible thing but as other posters have said, the bricks and mortar didnt do it. Its not The Amityville.
A person committed the crime, not the house.
I think its a great buy for a young family starting out with a reasonable mortgage.

These apartments are in Paris. You don't need to understand French to speak the international language of slum-landlords. The photos speak for themselves

and this one, which is a little more expensive because of the anti fat-chicks mechanism in the bathroom

that is unreal. who on earth is buying this???

they could only hope for some poor person or couple who doesn't know about the story and then they'll find out after the deal...imagine...

The missus and myself live close enough to Naul. We were out driving around at the weekend (it's scenic) and spotted a house for sale. Just out of curiosity we looked it up on Daft there and then and sure enough it was mega money. I noticed another listing for €125,000, put the address into the GPS and we went along to have a look.
We were blown away by the view, it's absolutely stunning. The house was a good size, separate garage, decking and a large garden. She was bowled over and ordered me to ring the estate agent straight away. Straight off the bat he said he wanted to be transparent and mentioned that there was an incident there in 2004. I thought that was odd for him to say, thought about it for a second and asked him 'Was it a murder?' which he confirmed.

Googled the area + 2004 and sure enough it was the O'Reily house. The missus and I had no idea about the house as we only moved to the general area in 2011 but the estate agent was straight up.

She's gone off the idea now but if someone can get past what happened there, they'll have a stunning home. The view is amazing from the road and it's in a quiet enough location- it'd make a wonderful family home.

that's very good to hear the ea is communicating it straight away.

I mean I don't know about site sqm prices in that area or in Dublin at the minute, but the best solution, from my point of view anyway, would be to demolish the house and built a new one, as the plot seems quite nice.

    Shared bathroom on the landing.

I can certainly see the benefit of forking out the extra €90 for apartment 2.

    Are those prices per week?

    No they're per month.

Living alone is slightly more expensive than it is in Dublin, but you can rent a 10m2 bedroom in a shared apartment, in an average-good location, with heating and parking included for 450 euro, which probably puts it on par with Dublin.

The house is shabby alright but it's still a bargain taking the area into account. Nothing in the Naul area is cheap and the price alone is worth it for the view.

Thats way cheaper than Dublin, you'd struggle to pay that in Bray at the minute nevermind anywhere in the city, heating and bills on top aswell. Hilarious toilets aside those are not bad prices for a month in one of the major cities of the world.

wouldn't this be very close to a hostel arrangement and would be in a different tax category?

also, I think fire safety regulations are highly ignored here...

I think this whole cramped in people thing is illegal

I like the positioning of the mirror on the table in Pic 4, can make it look like there are 4 crying chairs rather than only 2
