Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Best Televised MMA fights of 2005?

    Hi there, myself and a few friends are compiling a list of the best MMA fights of each year. At the moment we're working on 2005 and I was looking for some input from other people to see what their suggestions were. I'm looking for wars rather than beatdowns where possible.
    So far this is what I'm thinking for 2005:

    Griffin vs. Bonnar - The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale
    Fedor vs. Cro-Cop -Pride Final Conflict 2005
    Hughes vs. Trigg II- UFC 52
    Shogun vs. Nogueira - Pride Critical Countdown 2005
    Sanchez vs. Diaz - The Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale
    Liddell vs. Couture - UFC 52
    Murilo Bustamante vs Dan Henderson Pride Shockwave 2005
    Takanori Gomi vs Hayato Sakurai Pride Shockwave 2005
    Luiz Azeredo vs Takanori Gomi Pride Bushido 7
    Takanori Gomi vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri - Pride Bushido 9

    So any suggestions? Feel free to suggest fights for other years too but please make sure you specify the year so it doesn't get confusing.

    Shogun Vs Lil' Nog is one of the best fights I've ever seen. For what it meant, Fedor Vs Crocop, for its impact on MMA Griffin Vs Bonnar, but Shogun Vs Lil' Nog was definitely the best fight.

    Shogun and Nog definitely stands out to me alot from that year. I like the Griffin/Bonnar fight because I'd consider it a fun fight as well as the historic side, even though its sloppy as hell.
    Fedor and Cro-Cop is amazing for watching two fighters in their prime clash like that, I'm a very big fan of Cro-Cop in his Pride days.
    I also really like Gomi's fights from that year, and the Bushido tournaments in general. I know I'm missing some really stand out fights from them but can't think of which ones..

    Luiz Azeredo vs Takanori Gomi was amazing! (BOTH FIGHTS)

    Luiz Azeredo vs Luiz Firmino was very good to watch, great grappeling.

    Also pride fight of the year 2005 was Gomi vs Kawajiri
