The WA1500 World Championships are taking place in Stockholm, Sweden from August 11th to August 14th, 2011.

In order to take part in this event you must have a valid WA1500 classification of Marksman or better.

NASRPC will be holding a number of events in the lead up to the World Championships for you to gain or renew your classification.
There are also many events being run by WA1500 Northern Ireland and indeed the WA1500 Associations in many other countries.
These dates and locations for these events can be seen on the NASRPC calendar or the WA1500 Calendar.

Please note that the new WA1500 Rule book, introduced at the end of last year is in effect for this event.

If you are planning to attend this event it is recommended that you co-ordinate through the NASRPC and PPC1500 Association of Ireland.

It is estimated that the overall costs of attending this event will be in the region of €2000 per competitor.

If you require any further information on attending this event or what is required please contact
    the WA1500 National Discipline Co-ordinator at wa1500@nasrpc.ie.

If attending this event you need to be allocated a permit by the Swedish Police in order to bring your firearm(s) into Sweden .

There are some forms to fill out and the WA1500 will be facilitating the bulk processing of licenses on a per country basis at the end of May.

For details of how to avail of this facility and to keep abreast of preparations for the event visit
The 2011 WA1500 World Shoot @ Sweden page on the NASRPC website.

    Folks,

We would like to congratulate all of those that participated in the
WA1500 World Championships in Sweden last week.

It has been a particularly difficult year for those of us that are lucky enough
to be able to compete, and those that were able to travel represented their country, clubs and themselves with distinction.

There was an extremely competitive field (253 competitors from 10 different countries) and with many of the Irish contingent winning medals and shooting personal bests it was a very successful championships all round.

The following represented Ireland in the event
    Brian Duffy / MNSCI
    Brian Kelly / Phoenix
Derek Mc Nally / Harbour House
    Eamonn Maguire / Harbour House
Gerry McCarthy / Munster Target Shooting Club
Matt Mc Parland / Harbour House
Mike Nestor / Munster Target Shooting Club
    Oliver Swords / Harbour House
Shane O Brien / Harbour House
Thomas O Brien / Harbour House
    William Danaher / Harbour House

The Full results of the event can be viewed on the
    WA1500 World Championships website.

The location of the next World Championships has been confirmed as Perth, Australia in 2013.

We would also like to congratulate Gerry McCarthy/Munster Target Sports Club who has been elected to the position of Vice President of the WA1500 World Council.

We will put together a proper match report with photos in the coming days
and upload to the NASRPC website but wanted to take this opportunity
to congratulate all of those that represented Ireland in this prestigious event.
