Hi Philim4, welcome to Boards and the Richersounds Forum :).

As a new user to Boards and the RS forum, please take a moment to read the Charter for this forum, you can find it here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055564744 - it will give you an idea of how this forum works.

Just a friendly word of advice about your request for a quotation - it might help if you could give an idea of the kind of budget you have in mind, it coudl help the RS guys with an idea of the sort of kit that might be suitable.

    Cheers,

    Ritz.

Hi Philm, welcome to our forum and Ritz, thanks for the addition.

As Ritz has mentioned, there are lots of options available when it comes to hifi with varying levels of quality and features.

If you can let me know the type of music that you listen to and a rough idea of budget, I can certainly send you some suggestions.

    Hi Dave,

    thanks for the response-

My budget would be around 500-600 euro for the 4 items(well 5, if you include some speaker stands?)-the types of music I listen to would be quite varied to be honest, anything from very base dance music or reggae to soft ambient, or acoustic music. I have a stack of vinyl records which I can't wait to use on a good set of small speakers (the system is for my bedroom). A USB port for the Turntable would be very useful.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Philip

    Philips,

thanks for the opportunity to quote!

Thats a tight budget but here is an idea:

    Ion Profile Express Turntable: http://www.richersounds.com/product/turntables/ion/profile-lp/ion-profile-lp

    Cambridge Topaz AM1 Amplifier:
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/amplifiers-receivers/cambridge-audio/topaz-am1/camb-topaz-am1-blk

    Monitor Audio BX1 Speakers
    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/bronze-bx/bx1/your-speaker

Cambridge Topaz CD5 V4 CD player
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/cd-players-recorders-dacs-cassette-decks/cambridge-audio/topaz-cd5-v4/camb-topaz-cd5-v4-bk

We can do that system at £449.80 / €529.99

If I was to give you a little advice, especially after seeing the music you listen to I would change that system a little and buy it slower and in stages (ah the beauty of separates!)

I would go with the Turntable option in the 1st instance and add the CD player when finances allowed as follows:

    Rega RP1 Turntable
    http://www.rega.co.uk/html/RP1.htm

    Marantz PM5004 Amplifier
    http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HiFiComponents&ProductId=PM5004

    Monitor Audio BX1 Speakers
    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/bronze-bx/bx1/your-speaker

This system should retail at £599.85 - we can do it at £569.95 / €669.99 and it will offer significantly better quality than the earlier system and it is of course expandable & upgradable into the future.

All that kit as above is available from stock and is ready to ship,

    Keep us posted,

    Hi John and Crew,

At last I'm getting back to you and I would like to purchase the following:

Rega RP1 Turntable (Cool Grey Colour)
    http://www.rega.co.uk/html/RP1.htm

    Marantz PM5004 Amplifier
    http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pa...oductId=PM5004

    Monitor Audio BX1 Speakers
    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/produc...1/your-speaker

The Prices that you quoted me for this second, less of a budget option are great.

    Could you answer the following:
What cables will/can be included in this purchase? What length are the cables on the BX1 Speakers?

I would also like to enquire about buying a cable that would go from the Amblifier to the TV, as I wish to link up the TV to the BX1 Speakers to get a better sound of course and also to play CD's (I have a Logik TV with built in DVD player which has 1 HDMI outlet).

    Cheers!,

    Philip.

    Philip,

apologies for the delay getting back to you - I'm frantically trying to catch up at the moment.:o

Anyway that would be a really nice system (speaking as someone from the turntable era :(.) and it really is a quality system.

    To answer your queries:

    1. Cables: Unfortunately only the Rega actually comes with an interconnect - t. You will need to add the following cables:

    A. Speaker cable - I would recommend Cambridge Symphony 200 cable
http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-cables/cambridge-audio/symphony-200/gale-symphony-200 Which is normally £1.49/Meter - we can do this for Boardies at £1.11/Meter when purchased with any system - just let us know how many metres you need ( you should use the same length for both channels BTW!)

    B. If you want to connect the TV - you will probably need a decent Phono Cable - I'm not sure what outputs the Logik has but the HDMI won't work, as a. the Marantz does not have a HMI input and, b. The Logik won't have an audio return via HDMI! - so we'll have to use the phono outputs on your TV direct into the Marantz and for this I would recommend the SWA3523 3Mtr cable which again normally retails at £9.99 but I can do at £7.49 on a Boardie deal when bought in a system bundle!

If you want to go the whole hog and ensure you protect your system and make it sound good & for convenience you could add a Philips SPN7820 8 way surge protector & Multiblock at £14.95 / Boardie deal £10.99.

Apologies again for the delay getting back to you and please do give me a shout if we can assist in any way,

    Hi John & Crew,

    thanks for the message-
1/I would like to buy 5 metres of cable for the speakers.
2/The manual for the Logik TV recommends an audio cable to go from Coaxial out (TV) to Coaxial in on the Amblifier.
Please see attached the lay out of the back of my TV to show this

How do I order and pay?

    Thanks,

    Philip

    Hi Philip.

Unfortunately the Marantz PM5004 does not have a digital Coax connection on it.
Most stereo amps will not have this connection as they connect using audio right and left phono cables.

I have looked at the Attached you have supplied and it seems as though the Logitech TV does not have audio outs other than the coax.

Does the Logitech have a head phone out socket? This could be used to connect to the amp using a 3.5mm to two phone priced at £9.99
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/hifi-interconnects/cambridge-audio/aud100-3.5-1m/camb-aud100-2ph-1m

Speaker cable starts at .99p per meter:
    Cambridge Symphony 100
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-cables/cambridge-audio/symphony-100/gale-symphony-100

Although for the Monitor Audio speakers I would recommend going for something like the Cambridge Audio Ultra Micro at £2.99 per meter
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-cables/cambridge-audio/ultra-micro/audi-ultramicro-200m

If you drop me your contact number in a PM then I can give you a bell for some details.

Any further questions please let me know.
