Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know where a wall chart with common birds in Ireland can be got? A friend of mine is looking for one to hang up in the sun room for his 4 yr old son to be able to compare and recognice the different birds he sees in the garden.

    Something like this?

    british-birds-identification-poster-1285149231.jpg

    Check out http://www.wildforms.co.uk/garden-birds-identification-poster.html

I had a look at the Birdwatch Ireland site here: http://www.birdwatchireland.ie/ but I couldn't see anything. The RSPB used to do a nice set but don't appear to have anything. :)

The trouble with the likes of that UK one is that it has at least 5 birds that don't occur here.

You're too picky - old fogeys like me grew up with the YOC/RSPB when birdwatching here was a real minority interest and the IWC had little on offer. I have to say the beautiful RSPB charts - no longer available - used to drive me mad with their Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, Turtle Doves, Marsh Tits etc.etc. :D

I recall getting something from the old Dúchas. Maybe NPWS would still have some?

Just heard an ad on the radio for the Star, they have a poster of Irish wildlife each day this week. Trees today, birds tomorrow.

Sorry to bring this back up again but am still trying to get my hands on a poster.
Emailed BWI and got no reply, but find it funny that they wouldnt have such an item, tried book shops, Easons, pet shops, wildform uk dont post to Ireland, and even tried mooney goes wild no reply either.Any more sites tips would be appreciated, have a 4yr old asking me every time he sees me when is he getting his present?

Did you try this one that I mentioned previously? http://www.wildforms.co.uk/garden-birds-identification-poster.html

Neither the RSPB or Birdwatch Ireland appear to have any.

Ah, just spotted that myself - sorry. I will ring and savage them tomorrow. It's that sort of parochialism that has Britain where it is today. :)
