Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should be at same angle. The Satellite is 36,000km above equator. Not much affected by small local change in height.
Moving from Cork to Malin head has more effect.

is hotbird on the same elevation? i kept getting hotbird signal but no astra 2?

Hotbird is slightly higher elevation than Astra2/Eurobird1 @ 28E, so move dish east and tilt forward about 5 degrees as Hotbird is about 27 degrees and Astra2/Eurobird1 @ 28E about 22 degrees (all approximate and varies with location in Ireland). In Prague, Astra2/Eurobird1 @ 28E would actually be about 30+ degree elevation and due South instead of South West as it is in Ireland. On the Equator @ 28E in Africa (or maybe slightly into indian ocean) the dish would be pointing straight up.

As you move east OR west from 5.5W (dublin) or 11W (far West), the elevation drops.

so 19.2E is lower than 13E and 28.2E lower still.

Lowest I can get is 42E, and because the dish is offset it looks like it's pointing into the ground!, even though the elevation is about 15 degrees for me.
Highest Elevation is about 8W for me, at nearly 31 degrees. After that the elevation drops again

even if doing a fixed dish, this helps understand it http://www.techtir.ie/howto/install-motorised-dish
    see also http://www.techtir.ie/howto/align_sat_dish

and at the Spring or Autumn equinox , the day and night is same length and sun almost same elevation as the arc the satellites appear to be on from Horizon to Horizon. Right now in Early February, the Sun Elevation is a bit below all satellites. http://www.techtir.ie/howto/sat-position-from-sun
