Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have been taking Nurofen Plus for a sprained ankle intermittently over the past few days. I'm due to give blood this afternoon but it's just occurred to me that taking a product with codeine in it might disqualify me from donating temporarily.... Anyone know for sure?? thanks

That sounds like it might. Try phoning the clinic?

Can gay people really still not give blood? Id really like to give blood but I am gay, I know I am HIV free, is that the only reason they don't want gay people giving blood if so or is there other health reasons? Not starting a debate about, just asking :)

    This is a zombie thread!

Anyone know the reason, why you can give blood if you had a transfusion after 1980?

You *can't* give blood if you've had a transfusion since 1980.

It's the same vCJD issue as the ban on people who've lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996. Basically if you have received a transfusion since 1980 it's impossible to tell if you've been exposed to vCJD, so they've deemed it safer to exclude these individuals from donation.

    A) The Nurofen Plus didn't matter, I could still donate...

    and

    B) Apologies, I completely resurrected the wrong 'Give Blood' thread! I'm sure there was a more recent one 2/3 months back?? 😂🙈
