Just wonder what's happening in this area of games, i've heard about a bunch of them in development, but non have come to fruitition?

An MMO of sim city would be awesome :)

I remember there being an rts based with ships flying in the sky, and it'd take a few days to complete a game due to the scale of it. Not sure what it was called.

@mods, figured this is right forum as it's about mmo's.

    Could look at Byond protocol.
I remember they had a fairly big magazine advertisement campaign before it came out but haven't heard much about it since:

I think there are some browser based mmo strats. Can't remember the one I played, but it was based on Greek mythology. Decent game, but you need to become part of a massive alliance asap or else you're just fodder.

I was going to recommend Time of Defiance, but the developer recently shut that down. They've since moved over to Picaroon which you can find here:

I haven't tried it personally, despite a closed beta invite but if it's anything like Time of Defiance then it will be fantastic fun. It's also free-to-play.

Then there are the two browser based Real-time based strategy games, Terra Militaris and Castle of Heroes from gPotato. You can find em here:

    All Free-to-play.

Age of Empires Online is going into Beta, should be an interesting twist on the series.
