Have heard from a couple of people about a spate of robberies in the Virginia/Killinkere area. Someone said over 100 in teh last number of weeks. I know of three people broken into and houses thrashed in Virginia but that seems like an excessive number. Can anyone confirm if we are indeed in the middle of a crime spree

    Not 100's at all.

About 20-30 and the Garda believe its the same gang and are Dublin based. Read the Celt, theres an article about it.

Might not be as many as that but is definitely on the increase, there is also an issue at the minute with home heating oil being stolen from houses.

Robbing oil has always been an issue in rural places. Its annoying cause there is no real way to stop it. Unless you put the tank in a shed but even then!

We live up a rural lane, a cul de sac. We've been visited twice by a blue van. No-one at home first time, some stuff robbed. Second time, luckily we were home and neighbours challenged them. thats when they claimed they were looking for pony.
