Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi my dad has an old camera that he would like to get working again for sentimental reasons.

It is a Yashica minister 2 , I believe the problem is with the inbuilt flash,

Is anybody aware of a place in dublin that could take a look and repair it

    many thanks

Try users boardman or zerohamster on here, through PM.

Cute camera! The flash looks like it's black on the inside.. could be burned out. Finding a replacement probably wouldn't be easy.. you'd probably have to find another one that had a working flash, but didn't work for other reasons, and swap the parts over.

    I'd talk to Zerohamster.

Built-in flash? Are you talking about the selenium light meter?
Such meters age and loose their sensitivity = accuracy.
I am really convinced there is no built-in flash.

Take a look here OP, no built in flash. That window is the light meter's photosensor window as ThOnda said.

The camera looks to be in great condition if thats it in the picture.
Have pictures been taken with it recently? just wondering if it was presumed broken or are the photos underexposed etc...?

i rang gunns to see if i could get my Konica Auto S2 rangefinder fixed, they put me in contact with a very nice gentleman who took it in and is fixing it at present.

he will take a look at it for nothing and give you a diagnosis and cost for fixing it!

ring gunns and they will pass you on his no. (i dont know if he would want me to be giving it out on this forum), give him a call and talk him through what you think the issue might be.

he specializes in restoring rangefinders by the way, so would be ideal for your camera, of course it all depends on how much your willing to part with, and it may take a few weeks as he told me he is quite bust at the mo.

    hope this helps!

    Will.

thanks guy's I shall give gunns a ring, not surprised if there is no flash, it was my mums camera she was the family photographer I don't know anything about it nor my dad who wants to get it back in working order, he wasn't too sure what was up just that she had put it away many years ago as it was no longer working, i"m sure he was told at the time what was up but has forgotten. It is in great condition though so hopefully it can be sorted.
